“Fantastic location for a moderate price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

Booked this hotel as a bit of a splurge, as it was reasonably priced given the area. We checked in quickly and efficiently and were provided a room on the sixth floor facing north.
The room itself was incredibly roomy, with nice amenities and great beds/pillows.

The hotel itself is heritage with a great history. There is a rooftop bar with amazing sunset views (and great key lime margaritas!) as well as a starbucks in the lobby.

This hotel is right amongst it in a great location on Duval St.

Would recommend for anyone staying in Key West for 1 or 2 nights (due to the cost) or more if you can afford it.

Room Tip: Rooms facing north will get a view of the sunset most evenings :)

Our stay was for a family wedding in December. Everything was excellent, but the rooms were a slight bit on the small side and it got extremely cold and the hotel has NO heat in the rooms. The poolside bartender was the best. She gave great recommendations on what to go see and she poured excellent cocktails too. Honestly, she really made my trip.

I read all of those reviews about small rooms, construction noise, no lobby, no restaurant and thought maybe I should cancel my reservations. I called and spoke to Stephanie who said yes there was some construction but it would only be somewhat noisy between 10 AM and 5PM, we should not hear it in our room. I asked about water being off and she said it was off for part of one day while their eliminated the old piping system and changed to all new, not a problem after that. So being the trusting person I was I said OK, this was our anniversary celebration week and I wanted it to be special. She also mentioned there was a power boat championship race in that week and it should be fun. We drove down and Stephanie was there when we checked in and surprised us with an upgraded room and later delivered a basket of goodies for our anniversary. This girl deserves a raise at the least. She is a very dedicated employee.
The room was spacious but keep in mind that this is an old building, rooms are not huge like a new building but is still has the charm of old Key West. If you don't mind driving and parking to get to most all things in Key West and want modern larger rooms to sleep in there is a Holiday Inn that is supposed to be nice. You can't match the helpfulness of the La Concha staff, from the valet's to the bartenders, everyone. It is located in the middle of Duval St so you can't be anymore convenient. I came to the conclusion that those customers who are constantly complaining and negative generally receive the same back so my advise is to read comments prior to the construction (Nov 1st) which are primarily positive. Bottom line this is a great place, don't hesitate to stay and you will have a super time. Again thanks Stephanie, you are the best.

PS - Rumor is that Crown Plaza wants to eliminate the roof top bar and make a spa. I am not sure who thinks this will be the best way to generate more money but they need to be transferred to housekeeping.

Room Tip: Jr suite is very nice. We were over looking Duval St and there was no noise issue.

We stayed ay La Concha for three nights. The location (smack in the middle of Duval St. about 6 blocks from Mallory Sq.) couldn't be better. However, there were more cons than pros, so here we go. Pros: Relatively inexpensive with a AAA discount. Rooms recently renovated. Some nice views. Valet parking (be sure to include it when you make reservations; there's no parking in KW). Free USA Today's daily. Cons: The rooms were not done well when renovated (paint already peeling, poor paint jobs), rooms EXTREMELY small, shower stalls leak badly, Mattresses were lumpy and the pillows flattened. Starbucks (attached to hotel) customers leave their trash in the lobby, The hotel has a "rooftop bar" that is poorly run at best. This is the tallest building in KW (7 floors), and there is so much more they could do with the room itself (see Westiin Hotel, Eastland Park, Portland ME, rooftop bar). The hours are limited, the seating is more limited, and they have what appears to be an unused function room up there. This would be a gold mine with a little imagination.

I'll stay here again in the future for the location alone and knowing what I'm going to get for the money. It's clean, but it's not great.

Located right on Duval St. With easy walking to everything. Our Jr Suite overlooked Duval so we could enjoy people watching. Roomy, we'll appointed with couch, seperating wall and 2 flat screen tv's. We had trouble with wi-fi and cable in our room and they moved us. If wi-fi is important, ask for a room close to the router on your floor.

We were not told in advance about the ongoing construction, closed restaurant and no room service even though the second confirmation email stated the property offered both. They give you a note at check in to let you down after it is too late. Not a good way to handle this inconvience.

We were told by a restaurant employee to visit the top of the hotel for one of the best views of the Famous Key West sunsets, with not much traffic. They were correct, the owe was stunning and you could walk around to see the rest of the island from the top. We also took in the bar that was there which topped off the evening for us.

First of all, you have to keep in mind that this is Key West, and the Crowne Plaza is the tallest building here. Rooms are VERY small, but nicely decorated, subtle colors and everything you need for your stay. Another plus is being within walking distance to everything, a few blocks in every direction will put you in restaurants, tourist attractions, live music and so on. And having a Starbucks downstairs does help!
