We were not sure about this hotel because of its age and the fact that it WAS in the middle of everything but it seemed to be a great value. We usually stay at a private home in Key West owned by friends or at a bed & breakfast right off Duval but decided to give this a try for a few reasons number one was the price seemed reasonable and two when they park our car we can walk to everything. That is the truth. You can go anywhere on the island from here with just a short walk. The lobby was beautiful and we were upgraded as soon as we arrived to a oversized King room. We decided against the balcony room because of the noice from Duval and the fact people can smoke on the balcony. Our room was wonderful ( What is up with the blue ceiling?) and very clean. Our windows were very dirty and when I said something to the front desk the next morning they offered to upgrade up NC to a suite. Since we were just there for a few days they cleaned the dirty windows and we enjoyed the rest of our stay. I will say that this is an old building and not with out its noicy plumbing and creaks and bumps in the night. Try to get a room with no one above you. There is alot of character around each corner. We completely enjoyed the roof top cocktails and sunsets. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful from the bellhop to the maids. Bathrooms however are small but sufficient.
Would suggest not eating away from the Hotel. The restuant downstairs is great but expensive.

Great central location; nicely decorated and appointed hotel. Not the friendliest of staff starting at the front desk. Housekeeping is poor -- in our 5 day stay, trash was never emptied, room never vaccumed, bathroom never cleaned. The bed was made and new towels were left. Nothing more! Hotel restaurant food was in-eatable and a complete waste of money. Concierge service was blasse and unhelpful.

We loved it here! I was right downtown on Duval street and the people who worked there were very sweet with great customer service(hard to find now days)! Try it out. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to explore Key West.

This is an expensive hotel (like many in Key West). I guess you're paying for the location because everything else is bad. The walls are ridiculously thin in that you can hear every word going on next door. The plumbing is so bad that it seems when anyone on your floor turns on a tap, there is a very loud pulsating wrenching noise it's impossible to escape from (don't even ask about the toilets!).

To worsen the noise problems, even though we found a notice in our room claiming we were placed in a quiet zone (somewhere on the 4th floor) which meant the hotel committed to not performing any housekeeping before 10am (as long as we committed to not slamming doors), every single morning housekeeping would arrive around 9 in the next room making a hell of a lot of noise, including slamming their door every time they went to get something from their cart outside the room, which was every minute. In fact, on our last day the housekeeper tried to come in to our room at 9.15 whilst we were asleep, going so far as opening our door without even knocking. I would add that our room wasn't even cleaned on our first day, and on the second day when it was, they didn't empty the trash and there was dust everywhere.

The front-desk staff were very nice though, as were the valet parking attendants, though we didn't get any compensation for our above complaints, and the parking was $20 per day (noone told us there was an extra charge for this until we checked-out).

The pool area is nice, though cramped, and the pool towel stand was often empty without being restocked.

One more point - the elevator makes really loud scraping noises and big bangs, but even though we thought we would on a couple of occasions, we did not fall to our death, so hopefully you won't either.
