“Great Location; Love the Renovations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

Stayed at the LaConcha for the second time in 5 years and once again was not dissappointed. We had a one bedroom suite which is just one large room with a wall divider between the sitting area and king size bed. This was perfect for the two of us but if you had a family there is no privacy (one of the couchs is a pull out bed). The room was spacious and had a small refrigerator which came in very handy. It overlooked Duval Street and honestly the noise was minimal. I guess it depends what time of year you visit and if there is a festival going on.
Check in and out was very quick and the staff very helpful. We loved the ability to walk down to Starbucks in the morning to get our coffee. We did visit the pool which is very nice for a "city" hotel. The only problem is when the sun shifts later in the day the pool is in the shade of the west wing of the hotel. There are ample chairs and towels. We also visited the top floor to get the best view of the Key West sunset. For a good view I would get there 20 minutes early as many choose that view over Mallory Square.
The hotel is very convenient to all the bar, restaurants, and shops on Duval. If a cab is needed the hotel will gladly call one for you. We enjoyed this as we could have a couple of drinks and not drive!
If/when we head back to Key West, we will stay there again. I would prefer to drive to the beach during the day and leave the keys at home at night!
One negative that I hope they address...when distributing the bills to the rooms during the night they did not slide them under the door but inserted the bills in a folder and inserted it in your door jam. Whomever was doing this ran out of folder so he/she just put the bill in the door jam with the occupants name and home address exposed. A significant breach in security.

Room Tip: Choosing a room depends on your needs. If there is a festivity and you want to sleep you may want a...

We were not sure about this hotel because of its age and the fact that it WAS in the middle of everything but it seemed to be a great value. We usually stay at a private home in Key West owned by friends or at a bed & breakfast right off Duval but decided to give this a try for a few reasons number one was the price seemed reasonable and two when they park our car we can walk to everything. That is the truth. You can go anywhere on the island from here with just a short walk. The lobby was beautiful and we were upgraded as soon as we arrived to a oversized King room. We decided against the balcony room because of the noice from Duval and the fact people can smoke on the balcony. Our room was wonderful ( What is up with the blue ceiling?) and very clean. Our windows were very dirty and when I said something to the front desk the next morning they offered to upgrade up NC to a suite. Since we were just there for a few days they cleaned the dirty windows and we enjoyed the rest of our stay. I will say that this is an old building and not with out its noicy plumbing and creaks and bumps in the night. Try to get a room with no one above you. There is alot of character around each corner. We completely enjoyed the roof top cocktails and sunsets. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful from the bellhop to the maids. Bathrooms however are small but sufficient.
Would suggest not eating away from the Hotel. The restuant downstairs is great but expensive.
Enjoy your stay- We will be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from Duval- Quieter. Ask for a higher floor so that you do not hear the flushin...

Great central location; nicely decorated and appointed hotel. Not the friendliest of staff starting at the front desk. Housekeeping is poor -- in our 5 day stay, trash was never emptied, room never vaccumed, bathroom never cleaned. The bed was made and new towels were left. Nothing more! Hotel restaurant food was in-eatable and a complete waste of money. Concierge service was blasse and unhelpful.

Room Tip: Do not accept room 308 -- no windows and no closet!

We loved it here! I was right downtown on Duval street and the people who worked there were very sweet with great customer service(hard to find now days)! Try it out. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to explore Key West.

This is an expensive hotel (like many in Key West). I guess you're paying for the location because everything else is bad. The walls are ridiculously thin in that you can hear every word going on next door. The plumbing is so bad that it seems when anyone on your floor turns on a tap, there is a very loud pulsating wrenching noise it's impossible to escape from (don't even ask about the toilets!).

To worsen the noise problems, even though we found a notice in our room claiming we were placed in a quiet zone (somewhere on the 4th floor) which meant the hotel committed to not performing any housekeeping before 10am (as long as we committed to not slamming doors), every single morning housekeeping would arrive around 9 in the next room making a hell of a lot of noise, including slamming their door every time they went to get something from their cart outside the room, which was every minute. In fact, on our last day the housekeeper tried to come in to our room at 9.15 whilst we were asleep, going so far as opening our door without even knocking. I would add that our room wasn't even cleaned on our first day, and on the second day when it was, they didn't empty the trash and there was dust everywhere.

The front-desk staff were very nice though, as were the valet parking attendants, though we didn't get any compensation for our above complaints, and the parking was $20 per day (noone told us there was an extra charge for this until we checked-out).

The pool area is nice, though cramped, and the pool towel stand was often empty without being restocked.

One more point - the elevator makes really loud scraping noises and big bangs, but even though we thought we would on a couple of occasions, we did not fall to our death, so hopefully you won't either.

Room Tip: Our room on the 4th floor seemed quite big (423).A/C was extremely noisy too, as were the doors (whi...

My husband & I and his 80 yr old parents stayed 2 nights mid Dec in this beautifully decorated totally renovated 1920s hotel. It's on Duvall a block or 2 or 3 from Jimmy Buffett's, the Hard rock, Mallory Square, Hemmingway House. We walked to a lot of attractions. It's the tallest bldg in Key West with a roof top bar great for watching the sunset. Beautiful little pool area, although the water was a little cool. Very classy.

Room Tip: We asked for quiet rooms (worrying that Duvall might be noisy at night) and were given 2 rooms overl...

You can't beat the location - right on Duval. Rooms were relatively clean. They are tiny, though - rooms with a king bed fronting Duval have a bed, a couch, and not much else. They also have a pecular smell. we were placed there first right across from the elevator. immediately asked to have room changed and were accommodated.
The new room was on other side of hotel overlooking parking lot. room was larger. The bathrooms are small. The walls are paper thin. Beds are very comfy. Pillows not so much. Elevators are slow.
Staff was uneven. Some were helpful and friendly and others seemed like they hate their job. You are in the service industry so learn to fake it. Make the customer feel appreciated for their business.

There is a Starbucks in the lobby.
