Just returned from a week in Key West, and should say first of all that a visit to Key West is a must if visiting south Florida. Our stay at Nassau House definitely enhanced our visit here. We stayed in the Nassau King which is both pretty and surprisingly roomy. The large balcony area that the room opens out onto is also a handy place to relax in the sun. Michael, Mark and all the staff were welcoming and friendly- and happy to offer advice on trips, restaurants etc. Key West is not a cheap place to stay generally, but the Nassau does offer good value in comparison to other accomodations in the area. Finally the location was perfect. Far enough away from Duval to avoid any disturbance, but close enough to Duval and the harbour to stroll home every night. Looking forward to coming back already.

We just returned from a 3-day stay (not long enough) at the Nassau House. Having not stayed at a B&B previously in Key West we weren’t sure how the accommodations would fair. Well, the accommodations were excellent and the staff (Mark, Michael and Christina) was always cordial and resourceful. Ponder and Peyton are beautiful dogs, very well behaved and they added just the right hominess to the stay. We’ll definitely stay at the Nassau House on our subsequent trips to Key West.

“Home away from home!”

A friend and I recently spent a much needed vacation at the Nassau House. Our room, the Double Down, was large and welcoming and full of natural light. The daily breakfasts of homebaked muffins, scones and breads were excellent, and the Key Lime pie a wonderful treat! The staff was AWESOME and went out of their way to make our stay a relaxing and enjoyable one! I highly recommend the Nassau House to anyone planning a trip to Key West. Thanks for making us feel at home!

“Disappointed”

We booked three nights at the Nassau House based on the strength of its reviews on tripadvisor. The reservation process was promising; the woman I spoke with was very friendly and helped me pick a room based on what they had available. I had looked at the rooms online (they are all decorated differently) and felt comfortable with her suggestion.

Upon arrival, we discovered that we had been bumped, without apology or explanation, into a different room. When we asked about the change, we were told summarily that someone else with a five day reservation had been given our room, and that the rooms were 'all the same.' Ironically, we were bumped into the one room I saw online that I did not want to stay in. After discussing it, my husband and I decided to make the best of it. The hotel was full, and complaining seemed like it would only create an uncomfortable environment. Financially fufilling our contract and also finding a different place to stay was, unfortunately, not feasible.

Aside from the room switch, Nassau House was nice enough, but not really up to all the gushing praise in other reviews. The lagoon is nice, well landscaped, and a welcome dip for walk-weary feet. The dogs are very sweet and well-behaved. The breakfasts were fine -- carb heavy as mentioned earlier, but good coffee. But the much touted happy hour seems to be a pretty common phenomenon among the many, many small hotels and B&Bs on Key West.

We had a wonderful time in Key West --our first time there and our honeymoon -- and plan to return. Nassau House was just the least good part of an otherwise great trip.

What can I say that hasn't been said already? We arrived in the afternoon after a looong drive from Tampa. Michael was there right away to let us know where to park, get settled and give us our map, which for first time visitors is a life-saver! (We left it in the room the very first night we went out, but we made sure not to make that mistake again.) We were in the Nassau King-beautiful! When I had booked the room, I let them know it was our 15th wedding anniversary, and when we arrived they had a congratulatory note and two little bottles of champagne waiting for us! It was a very nice touch. Then it was on to the social hour, which was pleasent and filling thanks to the party mix. From the pictures we had seen of the lagoon, I really wasn't sure how big it was and while you are not going to swim laps in the pool, it is deep enough and big enough to relax in and truly enjoy. The water temp was great. We didn't get to meet Mark, Ponder & Peyton until the next day. The dogs were as cute as could be and Mark, like Michael, was a wonderful host. The breakfast was still ample and delicious, even though we slept in because of the rain. Speaking of rain, it did, on and off the whole time we were there, but Nassau House has big golf umbrellas for the guests to use and they came in very handy. We left our car parked the entire time and walked everywhere. Nassau House is close enough to the action, so that you are not going to kill yourself walking, but far enough away, so that it is very quiet and serene. Our stay in Key West was truly wonderful and a large part of that is because of the people at Nassau House (including Christina and the other Michael!) I highly reccomend Nassau House...you can't go wrong there!
