“Nice but expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

Hyatt Resort and Spa at Front street, Key West is nicely located near Mallory Square and Duval street where all the action take place. It is nice and clean. The swimming pool is small and there is practically no beach at all. Though the location is good, it is very expensive. With the high price I pay, it doesn't include breakfast, Wifi and parking. They charge another $20 per day for Wifi, parking and bottled water in the room.

I just returned from a eight day say at the Hyatt (2nd time) and it was great. From the front desk on down the hotel staff is top of the line! Great location. You can rent Wave runners, scooters and electric cars from Hydrothunder on site, the pool and the Blue Mojito outdoor bar I don't know what more you could ask for. The bar staff were fantastic Cassandra, Jeramy, Andrea and of course Marshall made hanging out fun!! Even my room attendant Raindy left me a hand written note to let me know she would be off the following day but the other staff would take care of me, now that's service!!! Yes the Hyatt is a bit pricy but the saying "you get what you pay for" holds true. Thanks to all the staff for a great trip done well.

Room Tip: Pretty hard to choose they are usually full.

We went for a two night stay in mid May and arrived to an almost full self-park parking lot. Luckily there was a space available otherwise I'm not sure how the hotel would have accommodated our car. Parking is included in the $22.50 mandatory daily resort fee. It was 3:00pm upon our arrival so after collecting our bags we walked up to check in. Surprisingly, out of season and on a Monday at 3pm, our room wasn't ready. The front desk staff told us they guarantee check in by 4pm so we left the bags with the bell hop and walked down to the Schooner Wharf bar for a few drinks. I was called on my cell phone at 3:59pm by the Hyatt and they let us know our room was ready.

We pre paid for a partial Gulf view room on Hyatt's website. They upgraded us to an ocean front room (3201) upon check in. It was a great room with two exposures, both the Gulf and the pool. All the reviews are accurate. It was clean, modern, and big. The AC unit in our room was a wall unit. It looked new and was very effective. It did make noise even on low but it was white noise that didn't bother us and I am a light sleeper. There was also a ceiling fan over the bed. The room had a mini fridge and came with toothpaste, mouthwash, all the hair and bath needs and two bottles of water a day. We also had a great balcony overlooking the water.

The bar was fantastic. They offered light fare and any drink you could want. Service was good at the bar but I noticed the girl who was serving the pool deck seemed a bit overwhelmed at times. Often times we would just go to the bar ourselves as we couldn't get her attention. We did eat breakfast at the onsite restaurant Shore one morning. We were not impressed. It wasn't bad but just nothing spectacular. Go to Pepe's for the best breakfast in town and maybe the world. You can rent jet skis, arrange for tours, and rent any kind of bike, scooter, etc all on site.

The location and staff are what really makes the Hyatt what it is. You can literally walk everywhere. We parked the car and didn't get back into it till it was time to leave. We walked to every single bar and restaurant in town plus the Hemingway house and the Truman Annex. As for the staff, they are fantastic. It must be a corporate culture type thing. Everybody says hi and smiles every time. I can't stress this enough. Whomever manages the training of the staff is doing their job perfectly as are the staff members themselves.

We felt our room was over priced but it's Key West and the market allows them to command the high prices. We checked out several other hotels while there and always felt we picked the right one in the Hyatt key West Resort and Spa.

Thank you for taking your personal time in giving us such feedback. We are glad you had an enjoyable stay. We are very fortunate to have such a great product with a beautiful location and most importantly a great staff who strive for excellence in service. We apologize due on the wait of the room as we try to accomodate all early check in's on first come first come basis. But sometimes with a small hotel turn and running an extremely high occupancy may lead some guest to wait. In addition, if the self parking lot gets full we are able to accomodate guest in our valet. We really thank you for the great comments and hope to assist you very near future in our little paradise of Key West

Stayed here and at the Hyatt Beach House at the other end, Although the Beach House is much bigger rooms, I guess it's all about location. The Beach House is quiet and off by itself (nothing around there) where as this Hyatt Resort is in walking distance of all the main attractions, Essentially, if you want to experience Key West, then the Hyatt Resort is the better of the two choices. Once you're there you don't need a car unless you want to travel to a restaurant that is too far away to walk.

weather wasn't the best the week of 4/27-5/4, but the hotel makes the difference. they supplied umbrellas for us to walk around with. concierge, lauren and faye, were extremely helpful with restaurant info, discount cards and cabana rentals. luann at the pool deck worked hard to keep everyone happy. this year the bar even offered happy hour and specials of the day. if you worship the sun, chairs on the pool deck by the restaurant have sun starting by 10:30 and continues until 6. the room was immaculate, thank you joceline! we were welcomed with a very friendly hello from atif, as well as a bottle of wine in our room. he makes us feel like family, each time we're there. he is always asking if there is anything he can do for you and truly means it!! thank you atif, for making our trip so special. already looking forward to seeing you next year!!!

Room Tip: we prefer building #3 room 3305, larger balcony with sun on the balcony in the morning, overlooking...

Absolutely brilliant hotel! The staff, rooms, cleanliness, pool - in fact, everything, was superb.

We stayed here as part of a fly-drive in the Keys and undoubtedly this was one of the best hotels we stayed in.

Would thoroughly recommend this to anyone.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool may be rather "public" if you were sitting on the balacony. We...
