“Quiet and relaxing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

The staff is warm and accommodating. The property is neat and clean. The rooms do not have minibars, and are not plush. This location is really an "islands" style resort. The pool area is very nice and well-kept. The restaurant is top-notch. We had both excellent lunches and a dinner. The pool area bar is friendly, and the staff is outstanding. Downtown business area is within several minutes walk. This property is a good deal.

Room Tip: the poolside bar is only open until 11pm

To say we were disappointed in this resort is an understatement. However upon further research we discovered it to be one of the best on the island. Still - the rooms (we had 7) were inconsistent & in need of some TLC.

The grounds are quite small & unremarkable. The pool is small and very disappointing. We enjoyed the various turtle habitats scattered about even if they were a bit dirty.

All the employees we encountered were friendly and capable. We just wish that they had a nicer work environment for us to relax & play in.

Room Tip: I'd absolutely request ocean front....good luck getting one.

We are staying here for five nights and are on night two. This hotel is in a great location right on the water. I like the open entry to the room instead of a stuffy hallway. Small balcony but great view with a table and two chairs. Pretty big room with tile floors instead of carpet, nice because I hate dirty carpets. The bathroom is a good size and the shower nice. We were late getting out of our room, about ten a.m. and then our room wasn't cleaned until after three thirty so we had to keep busy, kind of a pain but we managed. I like the shampoo etc, decent sized bottles instead of the teeny bottles you usually end up with. The turtle pond is a nice touch and even the cranky bird out front is cute! If you want him to speak to you, just try walking away! Front desk staff are very friendly as are any other employees you meet out and about. The only problem encountered was a dirty blanket on our bed, kind of "grossed" me out, but after speaking to the front desk they switched it when they cleaned the room. We rented a "gem" car right in the hotel parking lot and had a lot of fun out and about in it! Somewhat expensive hotel but not outrageous.

Room Tip: Higher floor facing the water is nice.

My husband and I have stayed at the Hyatt twice so far and are very much looking forward to our next visit next month. We love the location, the rooms, the food, the service and the hotel, in general. I agree that the rooms are pricey but definitely worth it. The partial gulf rooms are spacious and all have beautiful views. There is an awesome view of the sunset from the hotel dock, too, which is nice if you don't feel like venturing out for the sunset festival. The Hyatt has everything you could want and more! Thank you for making our Key West trips so amazing!

Room Tip: Higher floors have great views. Partial gulf view rooms are spacious with beautiful views.

This hotel was in a great location, not far from the action but extremely quiet, you would never know that Duval St. was so close. We stayed for six nights in building 3 with a king bed, partial view room and were on the fourth floor, which is their top floor. We had an awesome view, I would highly recommend this over a full view if money is an issue because the view is fine and I am assuming few people come here to only see Key West from their hotel room. We only ate at the Shor once, which was for breakfast but it was very good. The room and the grounds were very well maintained and all of the staff were friendly and helpful when needed. The Hyatt helped to make our Key West trip completely satisfying and this is the only hotel we will consider staying at on our already planned return trip next January.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the fourth floor for the best view.

My husband and I stayed at the Hyatt on Front Street for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed every minute! We reserved the cheapest room, which was designated as having a "city view." When we checked-in, we were given a room on the 2nd floor, and I figured we wouldn't see much of anything from the 2nd floor. However, we had a very pleasant surprise as our balcony overlooked one of the turtle pools and we enjoyed watching them--(cheap entertainment). Our room was a huge, tiled corner room with two flat screened TVs and an updated bathroom. It was clean, except for the floor mat the bed was on--I am guessing it is difficult to clean?? We had room service twice and ate at the pool cafe once, which were both decent. The customer service was top-notch: The first day we arrived we noticed we had no coffee for the next morning. The bellman put in our request and a short time later a manager called and apologized for not having any coffee and said that embarrassingly, they had run out and were not expecting a shipment until the next day. Then she offered to have a pot of coffee sent to our room at whatever time we would like. We thought this was exceptional customer service. We also asked to have a higher table for our balcony so we could eat breakfast on the balcony, and a table magically appeared while we were sight-seeing. You can't ask for a better location--a few blocks from Duval St, the boardwalk and Mallory Square. We highly recommend this hotel and will stay here again.

Room Tip: Room 2108 overlooks one of the turtle ponds.

The Hyatt Key West is magnificent! The staff was pleasant and very professional. The accommodations are lovely and meticulously maintained. Location is superb with private beach yet close to Duval St.
