“Comfortable, beautiful pool, great staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

The property is nice for the cost. They have an outstanding pool and Tiki bar. With the ongoing US1 construction (N. Roosevelt Street) location it hurts this property greatly. Unfortunately, all 3 Marriott properties are located on this stretch, the Fairfield being closest to downtown. Thanks goodness for The Ole Town Trolley stopping at the hotel to get downtown. You can ride a bike, alittle to far to walk. Really nice breakfast, included with stay, very friendly staff. Avoid Springbreak, but if you happen to go then, this hotel has great sound reduction walls between rooms.

Room Tip: Limited number of balcony rooms, overlooking pool. Worth a request.

The Trolley is agreat way to see the island. Our scooter and bicycle rental service is also a fun option. We appreciate your comments. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

I read several lukewarm reviews prior to staying here (Feb '13), so I had fairly low expectations. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful - the manager even cleaned our room one evening when we pointed out that the maids had missed it that day! The pool is spectacular, and I love the poolside open-air bar. Our room was nothing special, but it was clean...although both beds were QUITE noisy (sorry neighbors!).

Now, for the mediocre location. It's a little over 2 miles to Duval Street, so not practically walkable (esp. in the warmer months). We solved this by renting bikes for the week rather than depend on cabs every time we wanted to go downtown. I would recommend bike rentals (we got ours for a pretty reasonable price at Eaton Bikes on Eaton & Margaret) - it's a great way to see the island and get some exercise.

Another issue that is a bit inconvenient - there is major road construction going on (through 2015 I believe) right on Roosevelt Blvd. where the Fairfield Inn is located. If you miss the hotel entrance you have to make a ridiculously long detour circle to get back there (we were warned about this several times).

Luckily I was able to pay for this stay with hotel points...but when I checked the prices they seemed quite high (over $330/night as of March 2013). Maybe that's the going rate in Key West that time of year, but it probably wouldn't hurt to check around.

...but the Hotel was nice, albeit nothing great from a room standpoint and it is unfortunately for them located right on Rte 1, which is under heavy construction. This made getting out and about somewhat tricky but still manageable as we used the Hotel as a base for our exploring. Our two room King Suite was a bit small by Marriott Property standards but was clean and well stocked. The Staff was great, very friendly, helpful, and as everyone seems to be down there very laid back. I echo the sentiments of others regarding the pool, Tiki Bar, and breakfast. We were greeted each morning with a big smile and a plate handed to us and at the end of each meal chocolate kisses were handed out as they cleaned our table. For a complimentary service we certainly felt spoiled! We used the gym and pool and both were very clean and well maintained. It happened to be my Birthday and we were surprised with a couple of free drink vouchers upon check in(see great staff comments above). This property is not near an easy access to the water so if you are looking for beachfront I wouldn't recommend it, but if you are looking for a nice moderately priced Marriott Property from which to base your own explorations I believe you will enjoy it here. I know we did.

Room Tip: We were on the first floor and quite frankly didn't hear a thing during our entire stay.

Granted we went at the high season but it seemed overpriced for a basic room with no carpet, open to the outside, and not close to the historic district. The door had to be slammed to be shut which caused a great deal of noise for both us and our neighbors. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was included. The pool was beautiful and the Tiki bar was nice with a great bartender. That was a big plus.

Room Tip: The back side of the property is quieter and away from the road construction noise.

Rooms are rather small but very clean. Amenities are great! Pool, Tiki Bar, Breakfast were terrific. But the best part of it all was how the staff was their for you. From Pete the bartender at the Tiki Bar to the servers at the breakfast poolside. Had a problem with the heat the first day. They fixed it immediately, wrote a nice note, and gave us 2 free drink tickets! Would go back!

After reading the reviews, I was excited to stay here for my birthday...that changed when we arrived. We have service dogs & called to let the hotel know, the person on the phone said no problem, but it was when we got here. The person who booked the room is an Elite member with Marriot-no complimentary upgrade, no explaination that none was available, so in a very small standard room we stayed. The Elite member also called to say we were here for my birthday and asked if they could do something special, person on the phone said "of course"--well, there was nothing, not even a note in the room or anything said at check in. There is no water pressure at all-we called the desk, maintainence came up and said "it's the city's fault"--typical excuse for a hotel who doesn't want to admit there is a problem--the hotel's "solution"-give us comp drinks at the poolbar that we can't use because they gave them to us late. We out the "No Service" sign on the door and housekeeping continued to knock on the door early in the morning. You may also want to wear your shoes all the time in the rooms...the tile floor is nice, but leaves your feet black. We stayed at another Marriott property up the road from here a few days Memorial Day weekend last year and they were absolutely amazing...staying here at this property was a complete let down and will not stay here nor recommend any friends to stay here. I am writing this as we are packing to go.

The hotel has a huge pool (sometimes a little TOO busy, with the small children of families), and a poolside bar that offers high-priced drinks. We had a large upstairs room (only one elevator, and a long walk with suitcases). The location is a little far from downtown, but the price is lower than the downtown hotels. However, do not expect a bargain in January. We paid nearly $200.00 for just one night. When the roadworks are finished on the street, it will be more accessible.

I am dissappointed that you didn't feel that we were a value. It did sound like you enjoyed your visit overall. Maybe we'll see you agin in the Fall as our rates come down post season?
