Owner description: Upon arriving at the bike shop, you'll be fitted with your bicycle and begin your approximately three-hour pedal through town. You will see the highlights of Key West, of which there are many. Pass Simonton Street Beach, the Green Parrot Bar, Key West Cemetery, Higgs Beach and the Southernmost Point of the United States, just 90 miles north of Cuba. Of particular note is the Customs House, which presides over historic Mallory Square. Dating to 1891, the faithfully restored, four-story architectural gem was originally home to the island's customs office, postal service and district courts. "Old 91" is today a national landmark and headquarters of the Key West Art & Historical Society. Another slice of local history unfolds as you approach the Presidential Gates of the Harry S. Truman Little White House. Built in 1890 as the first officer's quarters on the submarine base naval station, the abode served as Harry S. Truman's base of presidential operations during his 11 visits to Key West. Of course, Key West also is known as the home of Ernest Hemingway. During your bike ride, you will see the residence located at 907 Whitehead Street, across from the Key West lighthouse, where the famed writer lived from 1931 to 1939. One of Hemingway's legendary haunts was Sloppy Joe's Bar. Founded in 1933, the bar was located on Greene Street, just off Duval Street, during Hemingway's day. The bar has since moved to its current location on Duval Street, taking with it its storied connections to Hemingway, who suggested the name for the establishment. Other landmarks on today's roster include Dog Beach, Flagler Train Depot, Jimmy Buffet's first house, and Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville, the Duval Street watering hole that embodies the laid-back lyrics of the beloved singer/songwriter. After returning to the bike shop you will finish with a slice of Key Lime pie, a refreshing must-taste here in Key West.

“A Fantastic Tour on a Rainy Day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

Chris, the owner of Key Lime Bike Tours, was extremely accommodating to my mother and me as we traveled to Key West. Not only did we arrive a day late due to weather, but the day we were to take the bicycle tour, it was raining. Chris offered to drive us on the tour, a first for him, and we toured nearly three and a half hours! Chris took us to all the "hot spots" in Key West but also took us to a few areas off the beaten path. His knowledge of the island is amazing and after the tour, we were able to enjoy a treat at Kermit's Key Lime Shop. Along the way, we stopped at a photograph taking spot called Cuban Coffee Queen (has a painting of Key West postcard on side of the building) but it became my favorite spot for lunch- twice!! Chris has an excellent reputation on the island and not only does he know his history, he is a dog lover and an all around great guy!! This trip is DEFINITELY worth the time. You WILL be highly entertained and educated.

Thanks for the great review Katie! I had a great time with you and your Mom, and am happy you enjoyed the ride. I'm sorry that you had a rainy visit to our little island, but that's all the more reason to come back soon! Thanks again for taking the time to post such a lovely review, now I'm off to take PeeWee to the dog park. In the sunshine this time!

“StePH”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013 via mobile

Steph was great. My family was informed and entertained. High 5s Steph. Looking forward to coming back to key west. This trip went by too fast because we were on a cruise and it was docked for only 6hrs.

Thanks for the review! Below is Steph's response:

Su How much fun was that? You and your family especially your daughter Trinity (sorry Vawn!) Thanks for all the banter, laughing and playing through all of Key west . Never a dull moment even when the boss turned up! You were a storehouse of knowledge especially Edison working out the kinks! You guys made the tour great. And your gratitude was great! Great quick review. Please look us up again when you come back. You know what they say "chickens of a feather stay together!" Big Love, Steph

“Great way to see Key West”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

We lucked out as we were the only ones to have booked during our time slot. As we are Brits, Christopher was really great at filling in the blanks in our US history! We learnt so much more than we ever would reading about KW. His knowledge shows a real passion for KW. The ride is very leisurely and the bikes simple to operate and comfortable. Plenty of shade at most of the stops along the way which is very welcome during KW summer. Would definitely recommend this.

Thanks for the nice review! I enjoyed taking you and your partner around our little slice of paradise. I know you said that you'll be back, so you really need to try to hear the song "Margaritaville" before you do! Thanks again!

“great way to see the best of key west”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

christopher took my family on a grand tour of key west .... he took us to spots i knew about that are famous ... and he took us to more off the beaten path spots .... all the spots were accompanied by stories and information about key west .... a highlight was the stop at kermit's at the end of the trip for a key lime treat ... we ended up buying still more treats.

at the beginning of the trip we got some safety instructions and bottles of water to put in our bike baskets.... at the very end of our trip it was starting to rain and then POUR .. but christopher had ponchos for all of us ... he was prepared for any eventuality it seems!

the biking on VERY flat key west is extraordinarily easy, so anyone could do this ride if they can manage a bike at all .... everyone in my family enjoyed it, teens and adults.

Thanks for the great review Elizabeth! I enjoyed taking your family around the town, but wish we could have beat the rain! Hopefully your oldest son appreciated it! I also checked some of your other reviews while in Key West and am glad you had a good time at Jack Flats, my favorite sports bar in town. Please come back to Key West soon, and thanks so much for taking the time to post such a great review!

“Go bikes go!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

We had a fun, informative, bike tour with Steph as our guide. My husband and I were the only ones on the tour that took over three hours. We rode by the normal attractions and went through quaint neighborhoods. Steph would have us ride short distances and then stop to give us fun facts about Key West. We were very glad that we chose to do this bike tour.
