“Great adventure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

I've been to Key West 3 times but on the advise of the Reach resort concierge we booked a float plane flight here. It was completely worth it. Amazing beautiful place. Very private and the water is a color you can't describe but have to seeN. The plane ride was short and full of photo op's. The tour was ok, had to do it once but not next time. Snorkeling was loaded with adventure. Do not miss an chance to do this. if you looking to get away on a quiet unforgettable little daylong adventure do this !

“Perfect way to spend an afternoon in the Dry Tortugas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2012 via mobile

We took the noon flight out to the Dry Tortugas. This was wonderful and well worth the money over the ferry to save time and get great experience and views in a seaplane ($550 for two people). Our charter plane was full (10 people + the pilot), try to sit up with the pilot, great views! 40 minutes flight each way seemed to fly by, we got nice narrative telling the history and information of the area we were flying over. When we got to the island there were very few people there, was nice to walk around the old Fort, but the real highlight was the beach, peaceful and relaxing with only a few people. We did snorkel and didn't see too much in the water, with the exception of one Ray and a few fish. Tip is to stay along the fort wall, there is a large hole in the wall that had lots of fish swimming in it. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled when you are in the air, you will see two shipwrecks and if you are lucky the sea turtles for which the tortugas are named for. Beware the Fort is very old, not well lit and can pose danger in spots, so not great for everyone.

“Fantastic Day Out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012

We booked the half day trip to Dry Tortugas. Quite pricey but we were splashing out (no pun intended) and didnt fancy 3 hours each way on the ferry. Arrived in plenty of time, checked in and were given a cooler with drinks and snorkel gear. If you have time while you are waiting, the hanger round the corner has a small collection of classic aircraft. The plane seats about 10, and everyone gets a window seat and headphones. We departed on time from the runway and headed west. The views are fantastic and our pilot Evan gave a really good running commentary. We saw turtles, sharks, shipwrecks and even cuban refugee boats abandonded on the small islands. The flight never got above above 1000ft and was very smooth. If you are worried about flying on a small plane - don't! These things are built like a tank and landing on water wasn't any rougher than landing on a runway. We arrived at the island and taxi'd in. The fort has a small exhibition and a self directed tour. It is worth climing to the top for the views. After a quick picnic we walked over to the beach and snorkelled in the clear water. We aren't the strongest of swimmers so we didn't go too far from the beach but we still saw quite a few fish and coral. While we were in the water, the ferry left and the beach ended up almost deserted. The flight back was just as great as the flight out with Evan banking the plane a couple of times so we all got a good view. This trip was the highlight of our whole holiday and my only regret is that we didn't do the whole day tour - maybe next time!

“Adventure of A Lifetime!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2012

We took the 1/2 day tour to the Dry Tortugas. Our piolet was so good. The flight there and back was amazing. The coolest part was seeing all the sea turtles below. Snorkeling at Fort Jefferson was great. Even saw a Nurse Shark where we snorkeled. There was a saltwater crocodile hanging out under the bridge into the fort. I highly recommend the morning trip. The ferry doesn't get there till you are about to leave so you and the other 7 people from your plane pretty much have the place to yourself

“Fantastic Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

Unique experience flying on a seaplane...my boys loved it. From the time we checked in to when we left, the whole experience was wonderful. Friendly, helpful ground staff and fun pilot both contributed by giving inside tips and knowledge of the best snorkeling and what to see in the fort. The flight over is the perfect length - long enough to really enjoy the plane and experience, but short enough to be interesting.

If you take the first flight out, you're on the island for almost 2 hours before the ferry - and all the people -arrive. Feels very private, relaxed and special. We thought 1/2 day was the right length of time, enough to take a quick walk around the fort and then enjoy the beautiful, calm, clear waters. Could not have asked for a better trip. Well worth the price.
