“Great Old Mansion”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

On our first trip to Key West about 10 years ago, we stayed at the Curry Mansion Inn and decided to return there on this trip. We were not disappointed. The Mansion has retained its historicial persona and has been well-maintained over the years. The location is perfect - one block from Duval Street. Unfortunately, our room backed up to one of the bars on Duval Street, so we heard music until 3am. One of the amenities of the Curry Mansion Inn that we particularly enjoy is happy hour around the pool every evening (on the porch if it is raining). The free booze and food are a great treat.

My sister and I had a wonderful stay and so much appreciated the helpfulness of owners and staff. My sister has medical issues and owners were quick to put my mind at ease and offered to help in any way needed.
The Mansion is beautiful and so inviting. We are planning to return. Lots to do and see.

Response to a prior traveler was that soundproofing was being installed to alleviate the noise. We stayed in a room by the pool and did not get to sleep until after 4:00am because of the music on Duval St. My husband had to put in radio headset earphones that we just happened to have with us. In addition to the loud music, the couple in the room beside us returned to their room at midnight with an employee having to let them in because they had lost their key. They then proceeded to sit at the table outside our door to smoke, talking and laughing loudly the whole time. They repeated this again at 2:00am. We couldn't sleep late to make up for it since the breakfast is by the pool where the rooms are. But, the breakfast was great and the house and antiques are beautiful.

Room Tip: Maybe the rooms in the main house are quieter.

It is VERY hard to find accomodations in 1 room for a family with 2 adults and 3 children. Curry Mansion Inn was able to accommodate us in a very cozy, spacious,CLEAN room at the Mansion. We stayed in the building right behind the actual mansion itself.
The pool was "just enough" to keep the kids entertained after a day of sightseeing
Two blocks to a small beach - SImonton beach - where the kids could swim and jump off a concrete dock.
A half block from Duvall street
Two blocks from Mallory Square.
Breakfast was more than I expected - omletes, breakfast meats, etc.
Happy Hour was a total bonus for the parents as the kids swam in the pool.
Overall one of the best places to stay in Key West and VERY AFFORDABLE!
Thank you!

First time staying in key west although been there once on a cruise stop. We choose curry mansion because of the location and price for the week we were there. Both turned out better than expected. Fifty feet from Duval St. the heart of the island, and 3 blocks to Mallory Sq. for sunset. Everything in walking distance. Parked the car and didn't move it for 3 days. Upon check in we asked for an upgrade due to it being our 40th anniversary and at a minimal cost we were upgraded to the finest suite in the mansion!! Without hesitation. Steve, who helped us with our check in was a dear, and a wealth of information. The hotel is more than a hundred years old and has held up well for it's age. The inside of the hotel is beautiful. Antiques are fabulous. Lovely 2 room suite, a champagne surprise, a beautiful jacuzzi tub in the bathroom along with a huge shower. Bed is comfy but surprised at the horrible pillows. Foam rocks!! What we really enjoyed was the super large balcony we had that was just about the whole side of the house. Since we arrived late in the day we headed for the complimentary 2 hour cocktail party which just about everyone attends. Meet your neighbors, snacks, top shelf liquor, wine, etc. At night your far enough off of duval st. to not hear the bars that go until 4am. Free made to order breakfast each morning!! Very quiet sitting out on balcony and out on the front veranda which wraps around the building. Especially in the morning. Wish I had a BB gun for the roosters!!! haha The only thing we were disappointed in was the pillows, the pools a little small, and definitely in the condition of the outside of the building. Peeling paint and dirty area's are a disappointment. Was reassured by the owner that they are getting ready for a makeover out there. We will certainly return if going to keys again. Everyone we spoke to there loved the place also.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back of hotel added in the 80"s may hear more noise from bars. AC units are loud...

Stayed at the mansion on a off year from my time share. Was well worth the money spent. The rates are great and rooms just as good. One block to Duval...But quiet at night. FREE HAPPY HOUR! Yes I said FREE. And free breakfast also.

My family and I stayed here the week of my wedding, and I can't say anything but praise for the Curry Mansion. From the location, the people and the atmosphere, it is a wonderful place to stay when visiting Key West!
