“Well worth your time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

Don't miss visiting the house while in Key West! The Hemingway House guided tour was very interesting and the house and gardens are lovely. Our tour guide, Rusty, was incredible and his knowledge of Ernest Hemingway and the house was genuine and he made the tour so enjoyable. My husband and I left feeling that we knew Ernest personally! The cats are an added bonus - they seem to reign supreme on the grounds. So many interesting little tidbits about the home, Ernest Hemingway and his wives. Make sure you take the time to visit!!

“It's Hemingway's House!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

There are lots of historic sights for tourists in Key West, some very touristy, some very tacky, and a few that true gems. Hemmingway's Home falls in the last category. Yes, it is a tourist spot and filled with the cruise ship day-trippers, rushing to see as many places as possible in the 6 hours they have in port. However, there is more a "reverent" feel to the house; the furnishing/décor seems correct for the house and era.

Walking around the house and garden has a laid back feel; kind like you are just taking a walk-through of an open house, when the owner is away, rather than touring a museum. Don't be in a rush, just wander around and take it in.

BTW, for extra Hemingway points, visit Casa Antigua (the erstwhile Trev-Mor Hotel) at 314 Simonton St. to see Hemingway's first Key West residence.

BTW2, another spot with a similar feel, is the "Little White House"

A trip back in time with many interesting stories. Very well done and the house is restored in a way to make it look lived in.

“Very atmospheric house and great guided tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

This is a lovely place to visit, with a great atmosphere, even though the house itself is quite small. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and amusing, so the tour definitely had the personal touch.

The gardens are also lovely and don't miss Hemingway's study which is not part of the main tour. The cats are the highlight for many and they certainly make themselves at home; it is obvious that they are very well cared for.
