“Great Museum off the Beaten Path”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

As one reviewer said, there is no air conditioning so plan your visit accordingly. Lots of great history and quite an ecletic collection.

More informational signage or printed guide book would be of great help. A separate area for exhibits under repair or broken items might be a good idea. Looks like this would be a great place for volunteers to assist and donate time to a worthy cause.

The fort is a great setting for a museum, however, the signage and electrical conduits take away from what might be great photo opportunities. Donated landscaping would be a great addition, also. Please support your local museums.

“More history with a view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

This museum has good history, stories and interesting artwork. You can get some great pics from within the fort and even better from atop of the fort if you like ocean views. If you're lucky you might get a good vid of a plane taking off or landing from the top of the fort.

“Worth Your Time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

Very interesting and informative if you are into history as I am. Lot's of great artifacts depicting civil war military life as well as the life of citizens of Key West in the 1800's. Great view from the roof top over looking the Atlantic Ocean and the price was very reasonable. The fort is NOT air conditioned and the spiral staircase leading to the second floor and rooftop is quite warm, but that's the only drawback. I'd highly recommend anyone visiting Key West to check it out for themselves.
