Some museums in the Keys have free admittance for those who served in the military. It was greatly appreciated to have our entire family enter for free. The greeter was very friendly. The lighthouse is nice- it offers amazing views of Key West. There are markers on the rim walk that point out and explain areas of interest. It does get breezy up there and the breeze was appreciated in late June. The caretaker house on premises is worth a visit. There are unique artifacts and bits of information about the lighthouse keepers through the years. A short movie (7-10 minutes) gave a good history of the lighthouse on Key West. Around the grounds there are life size statues replicating the dress and style of the time in which the lighthouse was in its heyday. It added a nice ambience to the place.
