“good history lesson”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

It was nice to see a light house from some other place than back home. It was neat to learn about the keepers of the light house, and the things they had to do everyday to keep it running. And after the keeper died how his wife took his place running the light house. It is worth checking out. The steps are a little narrow, so not really for small kids. But other than that we enjoyed it.

“Great Self Guided Tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

If you love lighthouses this one of the better self guided tours I've seen, from Maine to Florida, particularly in regarding the keepers quarters. I was surprised to observe that few visitors took the opportunity to listen to the audio devices found in three locations along the walls. They taught about the life of the lighthouse though the perspective of Mary Bethel. She who took over the duties of her light keeper husband when he prematurely died. The grounds are filled with charming life size sculptures that just yell for cleaver interactive pictures. You are able to climb the tower and have a panoramic view of Key west. It is diagonally across from the Hemingway House so it fits together nicely in terms of planning time management of your Key West visit.

“Climb the lighthouse”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

Staff was fantastic and full of information, well worth the $10 entry to tour the museum and climb the lighthouse. Amazing view of Key West and you can look down into Ernest Hemmingway's yard.

“Nice view”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

$10 to walk up the lighthouse and go into the museum. One of our tour guides recommended this because of the view from the top of the lighthouse. The view was nice but it was very windy that day so it was chilly at the top. If you're into views then this is a nice landmark but I probably wouldn't spend the money to do it again.

“Nice views but not worth the entry fee”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013 via mobile

They charge $10 or so as entry fee to climb up the lighthouse and visit the keeper's museum. The sights from the top are spectacular, and if they can lower the fee I am sure, there will be an increase in the foot falls. The museum is ok- nothing great!
