Had a hard time finding a quality motel in Key West for under $200. Found this gem for $197 with our Senior/AAA/AARP discount. Right across the road from the beach, although you could not easily access it because of the rocks. Clean two queen bed room on the second floor. Great sheets and duvets - you just want to snuggle in and wrap the duvet around you. Don't know how old the motel is, but the grout in the bathroom needed to be redone and the wood around the bathroom door needed repairing. We had a view of the pool and the tiki bar. We enjoyed sitting on the screened in lanai after dinner in Key West. Most motels now days don't have chairs outside for you to enjoy the evening. Great addition! Tiki bar closes at 7PM so it is not noisy. Nice large pool with lush tropical trees surrounding it.

The breakfast was very good with the usual assortment of items. Just a short walk from our building to the breakfast building.

Note: There is no elevator. We selected the second floor because another guest on the first floor said you could hear the people above you walking around.

All the personnel are helpful.

There are four ways to get into Key West - drive yourself, the trolley ($26) because you are actually on the tour, city bus ($1.50 or $.50 for seniors) or a taxi ($20). Be aware that the bus only runs every 1.5 hours so you have to carefully plan your time or you will wait another 1.5 hours. We took the taxi in and the bus back. The office will gladly call the taxi for you.

Definitely would stay at this Best West again! Absolutely no reason to pay $400 to stay in town when you can be out near the beach.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because of the bathroom. Otherwise, it was top notch.

Room Tip: Pool side is quiet - no noise from the road.

When you don't want to spend a fortune on a hotel, this is a great place to stay. The rooms were newly renovated and very clean, comfortable beds and we loved our pool view room as well as the pool area and the ocean view being right across the street. The staff was very helpful and friendly. It's not the most convenient to downtown, but we had a car, so that wasn't an issue for us. My only negative would be the proximity to the airport and planes flying overhead, and that is why I am only rating it very good and not excellent. That said, no planes flew over at night so sleeping was not a problem. Would stay here again when in the Keys on a budget.

Room Tip: get a pool view room

This was a great facility for the price. The staff were awesome. It has a great pool and poolside bar. It is directly across the street from the ocean. The room was great. We had a floor level room with an enclosed patio. It has lush landscaping. It is located at the end of the airport runway. My wife and I enjoyed watching them fly overhead. They did not fly at night. This is a great value. It is clean and inviting.

Room Tip: Floor level is always nice. All the rooms face the pool area. You might have a better view of the...

Our stay was excellent with a pool-side, screened-balcony room on the 2nd floor. Trolley stop was very convenient; used it two days to avoid parking problems downtown. Tiki bar at pool was very convenient. Enjoyable, adequate breakfast. Close to several nearby restaurants. Airport was very close but curfew prevented disturbance in evening. Staff very helpful in booking subsequent travels.

We stayed 3 nights at the Key Ambassador. We chose Best Western because they are reasonably priced and the location was good. The room was clean and the beds were OK. The airport is closeby but the plane sounds did not bother us, we were out having fun most of the day. I really like that the ocean is nearby for pretty views. They do offer the usual free breakfast which we did enjoy on two of the mornings. I would recommend this hotel, especially if you are on a budget.

We stayed here for 2 nights the 2nd week of April. We chose this week because spring break time was pretty much over. My husband and I really liked this hotel. We stayed in an Ocean View King room. We were on the first floor which I was initially disappointed about (I had requested the 2nd floor). However, once we got to the room I was very pleased. The first floor is not really on the ground level. It was up off of the ground and ended up being just fine. The view of the ocean was great and the patio was a very nice place to sit and relax. The room was very large. They have screen doors as well so you can keep the breeze coming in and the bugs out. The pool here is really nice and is the highlight of the property. I did not mind that we were not in old town Key West. We had a rental car and the out of the way location was peaceful. The airport being nearby was not an issue at all. It was kind of neat to watch some of the planes flying overhead when we were in the pool. The landscaping here is very nice and well cared for. The only reason I gave it very good instead of excellent is because of a couple members of the staff. I just felt that they could have been friendlier in the breakfast area and when we checked in. The people at the desk when I checked out were very nice. We also walked to the Benihana restaurant from the hotel.

Room Tip: The ocean view king room is very large with a good view. The 1st floor ocean view rooms are a littl...
