“Location Location Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

Our first time to key west was a hit thanks to the Merlin Guesthouse. We stayed in one of the small economy queen rooms facing Simonton St. due to the fact that we didn't plan on spending much time in our room. The room was small but we knew that before we went. The staff was amazingly pleasant and very accommodating. The location is amazing, and is within walking distance to duval st and just about anywhere you would like to go in dtown key west. Cont. breakfast every morning was fresh and well stocked. The pool is small but nice for a quick dip. Rooms were well kept and cleaned everyday. We are already returning to key west in May and plan on staying at the Merlin Guesthouse again. We also visited the other Historic Key West Inns while we were there, and all seemed to be comparable to the Merlin with good service & accommodations!

Room Tip: Queen rooms are small for couples and located on a shared porch facing Simonton St.

My wife and I stayed for two nights and enjoyed our stay. The accommodations were decent and the location was superb. We were able to walk to everything which is a bonus as parking anywhere is at a premium. The breakfast consists of cereal, muffins, bagels and toast, not a full breakfast but enough to start the morning. There are a number of areas to sit down and relax, and a small pool to soak in.

We enjoyed our week at the merlin guesthouse. The staff was great, the grounds clean and well taken care of and our room the king suite was more than we expected...huge with a lot of privacy. We had so much fun the weather was awesome! I recommend the seaplane to the dry tortugas...quite the experience. Ask the pilot if you can ride shotgun :)

Hi, my wife and I live in Islamorda Fl, which is 86 miles north of Key West and visit Key West three or four times a year for four days each visit. We have been staying at the Merlin Guesthouse on Simonton St. We normally stay in their smaller rooms, but upgraded this time to the living room suite for an extra $50.00 per night and it was well worth it. They serve a nice breakfast and everything is clean and the staff very friendly. The best part is that it is located only a block from Duval St, which is the "main drag' of Key West. We recommend the Grand for dinner or lunch on Duval, also Duffy's which is only two blocks from the Merlin. We plan on staying there again soon, and will due the upgrade room......worth every penny. Terry and Cheryl Peters, Islamorada, Fl 33036

Room Tip: spend the extra money.....get the upgraded rooms......after all, you're on vacation.

This is nice if you're staying one night. The bathroom is very small but the cleanliness of the room made up for it. The bed was comfy and i got a good nights sleep. The next morning we found our tire slashed. We were parked right by the hotel. The car next to us also had a slashed tire. This spoiled our whole outlook on whether we want to visit KW again.

We had a pleasant stay in this small guesthouse. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was outside on a nice courtyard, with plants and cats around and close to a pool. Hotel staff was very friendly. Parking was a bit tight and in general parking is not that easy on Key West.. better rent a bike! Although we did not spend a lot of time in the hotel and never used the pool we loved our stay here and I would recommend the place to anyone visiting Key west.

I stayed here overnight after arriving on the Fast Ferry from FT Meyers. There is a Porter service that will deliver your bags from there $10 per bag.. we wished we had used it on the trip in. We had Room # 13.. inside the courtyard facing the pool... large spacious room with refrigerator, large king bed, a dressing room and small bath.. It was a great location and walkable to most places.
