For a town that is so layed back this hotel stays on top of things. Lovely huge rooms. Nice spa treatments, but call early. Hot tin roof was delicious. Try not to get a room near the parking lot or you will hear the roosters in the morning.
The gymis small but adequate. we had a wedding reception there in december and it was nicely done. gets chilly at night though so be warned in the winter.
the deck has since been destroyed so you will see it in the photos but it isnow gone. they are going to rebuild it though, but double check before you go.

Ok...we were expecting a luxury hotel seeing that we paid about $400/night so we were disapointed to see that this hotel was more like a 3 star hotel not a 4 star. The room was big but the furniture was ratan and uncomfortable. Also mattress was not comfortable-old most likely.

Service at front desk was below average-very rude. The staff was impatient when asked questions and did not give us much attention. Also when we requested a late checkout they made a huge deal and only extended our request by 1 hour!! Again seeing we paid $400/night and seeing we checked in at 4.00 p.m when we arrived.... you figure they would be more accomodating! The Sheraton has shown us much better service by allwoing us to extend our checkout by 3 hours.

Food at Hot Tin Roof was not very good. Not sure why they rant and rave about this resaturant. Definatley overpriced for the quality of food. Try A&B instead but dont order the salads-they didnt wash the lettuce -lots of sand in there!

Spa was what made our stay fun and memorable. Service at the spa was terrific. Very friendly and warm.

Tip: If you get a facial ask for Yahnna. Try and make your apointments so that you end at least 30 mins before they close.

This was our first trip ever to Key West, and I wanted the best. That is just what we got!
We had the King suite, overlooking the water and Mallory Square. I couldn't ask for a better veiw!! We were right in the midst of most everything that is Key West and within spittin' distance of all the rest! Everyone was very gracious and professional. If we wanted it,we got it! However,it was pricey!!
The only suprise was on our last day when the palmetto bug decided that our bathroom floor would be his final resting place, my wife had never been properly introduced, so she was taken aback!
All in all,I would do it again in a heartbeat,and I would reccomend the Ocean Key Resort if youv'e only a short time to spend in Key West.

Last February and also this February we are choosing to stay somewhere other than Ocean Key. In 2003 we had a fabulous stay, the Hot Tin Roof restaurant was phenomenal and we had attentive poolside service as well. In 2004 it seemed like we were staying at a different hotel. In 2003, we were even greeted by staff by our names probably ten times. In 2004, we were barely acknowledged with a "Hello".

Cleanliness and condition of room both went down, while the price went up. Our room was very moldy and my son's roll away bed looked like something one of the homeless in Mallory Square had been lounging on. As I mentioned before, the friendliness factor declined, too. The Hot Tin Roof restaurant also seemed to be a shadow of its former self. No more does Ocean Key feel like the upscale spot to spend my vacation time and money on.
