“Beautiful oasis perfectly located in Key West”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

My husband and I stayed at the Marquesa for three nights and four days earlier in March. From the moment we stepped on the property, we felt relaxed and welcomed. We drove from Fort Lauderdale airport along the Keys, so we were tired from the trip, and appreciated the warm welcome with the small tour of the grounds and glasses of wine. The service at the Marquesa is a perfect balance between helpful and friendly, but not overwhelming or intrusive, which was ideal for a small property. The staff was very knowledgeable about the area and was happy to help with setting up excursions or restaurant reservations. As others have mentioned, on Saturdays, all guests are invited to enjoy a wine and cheese reception by the pool, which was lovely to meet the other guests, walk around the pool area, look at the hanging orchids...

We stayed in one of the rooms right by the non-heated pool (there are two pools -- a heated pool and a non-heated pool) -- our room was on the ground level and had a porch with chairs and a table overlooking the pool. We sat out on the porch in the mornings enjoying the complimentary coffee (after 10 am, there is complimentary water and iced tea by the pool) and reading the newspaper that was delivered to our room each morning. We loved the decor of our room -- all blues, greens, and yellows and lovely furniture/finishings. The bathroom was quite large with marble floors and all the amenities you would need. There was complimentary wifi and also a printer available for printing out boarding passes and such. Overall, the grounds were beautiful and a wonderful retreat.

The location couldn't have been more ideal. It is right in the middle of old Key West, but still tucked away enough to be quiet. Everything we wanted to visit was within an easy walk. The Marquesa has complimentary on-site parking, which is first come first serve. This was ideal for us because we wanted to have a car to drive along the Keys to and from Key West, but while in Key West, wanted a place to leave the car and walk around.

We would definitely recommend the Marquesa and plan to come back! Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room by the pool, which we found to be quiet and relaxing

We stayed at the Marquesa for three nights in Feb2013.From the moment you arrive you know this place is special.Large ,comfortable, calm room with a lovely balcony overlooking the heated pool.Beware the other pool is only for the brave or warm blooded.Enjoy a coffee ,iced tea or a chilled water in the lush gardens.Meet the other guests at a welcoming cheese and wine.Cafe Marquesa next door well worth a visit .. Cocktails a treat.Go out for breakfast at the Banana Cafe on Duval or Sara Beth's nearby for great service. All the sights are a short stroll away yet the buzz of the tourist trail never disturbs the calmness of the Marquesa. After a hectic night out you cannot beat this place to recover your mojo!

Room Tip: I would think all rooms are good but overlooking the pool is my choice.

We stayed at the Marquesa for three nights in March, and were impressed from the moment we saw the building, and were impressed even further with our greeting. After being shown to our lovely room and having the hotels amenities explained we were offered a complimentary glass of wine, which we enjoyed on our large balcony. The main building of the hotel ( in witch we stayed ) is a house of historic interest, and the whole place has the feeling of staying in a family home. The location is perfect for exploring Key West on foot and there is lots of complimentary parking on site. Everything was spotlessly clean and all the staff couldn't have been more helpful. All in all a wonderful stay in a wonderful hotel.

I stayed at the Marquesa in March 2013. The staff was amazing...especially Ken! They greeted us a glass of wine and a smile. Easy to walk to Duval and close to great restaurants. Really saved a lot of taxi money by staying here because it is so close to everything. You can walk to Mallory Square in less than 8 minutes. I frequent Key West and will come back to this hotel again. Accommodations are very nice....small property....quite...no kids...quaint. Pool is surrounded by lush greenery.

Room Tip: Room with a porch

I chose this hotel because of the reviews on Tripadvisor. It's easy to imagine what power these ratings and reviews can have on the success of many hotels, and yet some don't seem to understand what it is that makes hospitality an art.
The Marquesa is truly a wonderful place to visit. There's balance in their relationship with their guests. You will feel attended to with being fawned over. The surroundings are lovely and very well maintained; orchids and flowers growing in the eden of a garden setting surrounding the pool. Coffee is set out for guests to come and retrieve in the early morning, cool water, lemons, and iced tea during the day. It is also possible to arrange for continental breakfast at a small table by the pool, or on your private porch, or in your room. We didn't take breakfast there because we were off to the gym early.
During the day the pool is never crowded. This is a small hotel with a quiet, relaxing vibe.
There is an invitation slipped under your door for an evening cocktail party, for the guests to meet one another on Saturday nights. Wine and cheese, crackers and fruit, served in the garden; it was very low key. It seemed like it was mostly couples, all ages, from various parts of the country.
The suite we stayed in was very understated and lovely. The mattress very comfortable, television in the bedroom, as well as one in the sitting room, with the option of closing the pocket doors between the rooms. The bathroom was super clean, two sinks, tub and shower, and good water pressure.
Like magic, the towels were replaced and the room tidied up without us ever seeing anyone.
The service is perfect here. Everything is taken care of without any fanfare.
There is always someone by the reception area, and each person working at the hotel was friendly, helpful and intelligent (why is that unusual?). We got recommendations and directions to the gym, some restaurant ideas, and they arranged to rent bikes for us (Key West is great for bikes, since it's flat and the traffic is slow and seems to yield to bikers).
I found the time at The Marquesa very restorative and special.

Room Tip: We stayed in a suite. Because of the setting of the hotel it seems very quiet, even though you are a...

Outstanding experience at the Marquesa Hotel! Friendly and information staff, perfect room, and walking distance from Duval Street. Most importantly, you are residing in a blissful paradise of palm trees, tropical gardens, pools, and a waterfall.
