My husband and I stayed at the Marquesa for three nights and four days earlier in March. From the moment we stepped on the property, we felt relaxed and welcomed. We drove from Fort Lauderdale airport along the Keys, so we were tired from the trip, and appreciated the warm welcome with the small tour of the grounds and glasses of wine. The service at the Marquesa is a perfect balance between helpful and friendly, but not overwhelming or intrusive, which was ideal for a small property. The staff was very knowledgeable about the area and was happy to help with setting up excursions or restaurant reservations. As others have mentioned, on Saturdays, all guests are invited to enjoy a wine and cheese reception by the pool, which was lovely to meet the other guests, walk around the pool area, look at the hanging orchids...
We stayed in one of the rooms right by the non-heated pool (there are two pools -- a heated pool and a non-heated pool) -- our room was on the ground level and had a porch with chairs and a table overlooking the pool. We sat out on the porch in the mornings enjoying the complimentary coffee (after 10 am, there is complimentary water and iced tea by the pool) and reading the newspaper that was delivered to our room each morning. We loved the decor of our room -- all blues, greens, and yellows and lovely furniture/finishings. The bathroom was quite large with marble floors and all the amenities you would need. There was complimentary wifi and also a printer available for printing out boarding passes and such. Overall, the grounds were beautiful and a wonderful retreat.
The location couldn't have been more ideal. It is right in the middle of old Key West, but still tucked away enough to be quiet. Everything we wanted to visit was within an easy walk. The Marquesa has complimentary on-site parking, which is first come first serve. This was ideal for us because we wanted to have a car to drive along the Keys to and from Key West, but while in Key West, wanted a place to leave the car and walk around.
We would definitely recommend the Marquesa and plan to come back! Thanks for a wonderful stay.
