Very nice hotel - beautiful and clean with very good customer service. The bar is very nice and the food very good - all within walking distance to all the hangouts. Our room was spacious and quite large and recently remodeled. Safe and secure with free parking.. No doubts about returning..

This was our second visit to the Pier House. The first stay was in May 2009, and both experiences were wonderful. We were in the Spa building this time (first time was in main building). We had a perfect room at the end of the building that had a water view and a large balcony. Although, we spent more time exploring Key West then being in the room, the time we were in the room we were really comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. We also enjoyed being so close to the spa, gym, and hot tub (just put on our robe and walked downstairs). Location can't be beat and be sure to rent a bike (they will deliver to the Pier House). I did see only 1 ant and heard no drunk people-it was actually surprisingly quiet. The resort bars and great to start or finish the night and the food decent too! We had a great time and we will be back.

My husband and I stayed here a number of years ago and were so disappointed with that stay we checked out early (don't think that Trip Advisor review is available anymore). The bathroom needed a serious update - was just white tiled 1950s style with a huge fan, the landscaping was a jungle, and the pool was also from the 1950s - just a rectangle in cement. Registered guests had to pay $10 to use the fitness room! We paid the $75 early departure fee and got out of there!

On subsequent trips to Key West, we'd pop into the Pier House grounds to see if there were any changes - and there were. We noticed the landscaping got a nice trim, the pool was redone and enlarged and very welcoming, and the outdoor bar area was inviting. So based on that and the room rate my husband was able to negotiate, we decided to spend our Key West vacation at the Pier House this past December.

We booked a Lanai Pool Room - the balcony overlooked the little koi pond and pool. The bed was a pillowtop mattress and so comfortable. The biggest surprise was the bathroom - nicely redone - the shower was retiled in a sandstone color with shell tile accents - very soothing and the large showerhead gave excellent pressure. The room included a small refrigerator, which always comes in handy.

We checked out the fitness room - no charge for guests now, and theres a Mexican tiled, but very small hot tub (fits maybe two people) through the fitness area. We enjoyed the pool, with the landscaping nicely done to include the pool area now. The bar services the guests at the pool and we treated ourselves with a drink and lobster BLTs - very tasty! There's a bit of a beach where you can get your pool towels.

We also had breakfast one morning at the Harborview Restaurant - lovely overlooking the ocean as we sipped our coffee.

Pier House is at the end of Duval, but it's a quiet oasis from the bustle of the crowds. So convenient to leave your car in the lot and walk to nearby Mallory Square or restaurants.

Two disappointments to note: On check-in, my husband was expecting two faxes. The clerk wasn't aware of them and was very dismissive to us about them. The other reservationist acknowledged the faxes and handed them over. If he hadn't been there, I don't think we would have gotten them.

Also, it was very disappointing to see Pier House still using the $75 early departure fee. By keeping the guests happy, there is no need to have that in place. This is the only placed I've ever stayed that had that strict penalty.

The amenities are nice and reasonable considering the location. The hotel is tucked away from busy Duval Street but close so it's nice to be able to walk to restaurants and shopping. We used the spa and the treatments were excellent and not too over priced. The spa itself could use some updating but overall is nice. Rooms were nice and clean. Pool area is very small with no umbrellas if you like shade. A major plus to this hotel is that it's quiet yet close to Duval. I would stay here again when visiting Key West.
