On a sunny day the ocean sparkles in every color of blue -green. Take your time and enjoy the ride.

The last 60 miles (closest to Key West) is far more scenic than the northern end of the Overseas Highway. Traffic can be light or heavy and be prepared for bad drivers everywhere. It's a much better drive if done during daylight hours, also beware of key deer on one island - there are signs.

My husband and I just got back from driving to Key West from North Carolina. Whoever said the drive from Key Largo to Key West is boring is either blind or half dead. The views are spectacular and will absolutely take your breath away. The next best thing to heaven. Take this drive and you will never forget it. We live in the mountains of North Carolina which has a beauty of it's own but the drive through the keys cannot be surpassed. If you can ever experience this drive you must do so as it will remain in your heart forever

My boyfriend has always wanted to do the drive to Key West in his Jeep with the top down. Well, we did it this past week and it was an awsome experience! Not much to see in lower Florida, but once you hit Key Largo, its quite a ride! Lots of resorts, expensive houses and kitchy shops and restaurants. But, once you get some of the views of the water, wow! Just amazing! It did not seem like a long ride because there's just so much to see. We'd do it again in a heartbeat!
