“Great place to view the sunset...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

A nice beach for snorkling among the rocky coral beach. While we did not go into the water, I noticed that most beachgoers/swimmers were wearing beach shoes into the water because of the coral beach. A nice picnic area had tables and was in the shady area with many big trees. A concession stand was nearby to purchase food and drink and also there was bathrooms nearby. A good place for a family to spend the day.

“Interesting self guided tour and often good snorkeling.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

We typically walk to Fort Zach for the snorkeling in the morning before the crowds show up. The key to snorkeling there is to watch the tide as the current can be fairly strong. But swim out past the rocks and we have seen lots of barracuda, tarpon, sting rays, grouper and the typical tropicals. The self guided tour of the fort is somewhat interesting and there were some big iguanas too.

“Prettiest Beach on the Key and PEFECT for picnics”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

We spent three of our 6 days in Key West on this beach. The snorkeling there is great--lots to see a short distance from shore and you can rent snorkel gear from the cabana on the beach. They also rent out umbrellas and very comfy lounge chairs. A food shack also sells tasty burgers, sandwiches and ice cream as well as beer and wine. Hidden in the shade of the pine trees are several picnic tables and barbeques. A great place for a family outing or a beach day with your loved one.

“Good Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

Great beach area, just a warning not the beaches with the white sand you need water shoes. Its full of shells and rocks. Key West is beautiful but its not known for the beaches. Great snorkeling! They do have restaurant and chair rentals it runs about 30 dollars for an umbrella and two chairs. We will go back!
