“best place for a swim”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

Cleaner water than at beaches near the hotels, trees for shade, and easy access by car or (better) bike.

“wish they would fix it up”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

Loved the location and walking around for yourself, they do have a free guided tour, but we decided to walk it ourself. The building has many *do not enter* signs because the structure is falling apart, really wish they would give that place a face-lift and it would be really awesome to see repaired.

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

Wonderful place for a family, There is a nice beach for swimming . Large tree shaded areas with barbeque grills & picnic benches. It cost 7 dollars a car load to enter and you can leave & come back all day with receipt. You can watch the sunset , cruise ships. There are bathroom facilities, areas to fish (we caught snapper &other unknown) small cove with jetty with to snorkel . Great place to spend all day! Something for everyone. Or take tour on fort from the civil war there too. Highly recommend!

“Beautiful beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

Went to a birthday party here! It was a great place...picnic tables and grills under the much needed cover of trees. The beach was nice and protected. The views beautiful

“Beach time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

We didn't mind paying $2.50/person to use the beach, that's why we came to the park. Plus since we flew into Key West, we knew we needed to rent umbrellas and chairs. Well, the equipment rentals (plus deposit!) are a little pricey, so we only rented chairs and ended up using the pine trees as shade. Problems with the park are: it can get a little crowded when the cruise ships come in and the women's bathrooms are a bit piggish. One day there were so many people changing in the stalls there was a line out the door. I needed to use the restroom, and people were just changing. They need changing rooms. Plus they need someone checking on the cleanliness of the bathrooms throughout the day.

The beach itself was a bit rough with the coral. Water shoes are definitely recommended. There's more coral (which are rough like rocks) than sand. The water was warm and calm when we were there. There aren't lifeguards so keep that in mind.
