Great beach for sunning and snorkeling. Pine trees provide shade and there's a concession stand and shower on premises. It's a hike if you're walking, but an easy bike ride, or drive and park.
Definitely worth the time to investigate. Very reasonably priced. My son and I were on bikes so it was only $5 to get in. Nice preservation of history
It's history is long and interesting, and the descriptions of operations and living conditions by the guide annex flesh to the bricks and moarter.
We took the new catarmaran over, Very cool to walk around. Did the walking man self guided tour. Alsoo walked the moat wall. Very pretty.
There is not much information at the fort tour, but the park is a nice area for walking. The beach is rocky, but it has a great view of the sunset and boat traffic.
