“Amusing attraction with great views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2012

They try really hard to make this a strong attraction. Our introduction presenter was enthusiastic and informative. The building displays look current and attractive. The "tower" feature is a good climb and the views are spectacular ... well worth the effort.

“interesting place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2012

This is a great place to learn some of the history of Key West. The narrator/guide was dressed in period costume and really did a great job playing the part. Here you can pick up a piece of shipwreck treasure. A cursed 64lb. piece of silver! It only takes a little while to venture through the museum, but worth the climb to the top of the lookout tower, the views are amazing!

“Neat, but over priced.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012

The Shipwreck Museum gives a great insight into the salvaging history of Key West. The actors are fun and do not break character, and there is ample time to see the exhibits on your own. The tower above the building gives an excellent view of the area, and the layout of the museum is set up in such a way that you will not miss anything. The only problem for us was the price. Most things in the area are expensive anyway, including the key lime pie.

“Not So Impressed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2012

After visiting the Mel Fisher museum years ago before they divided the treasures, this one was a real disappointment. There was one silver bar that weighed 64 pounds that you could try to lift and some small glass-encased exhibits of salvaged treasure items that were interesting, as was the video in the basement. The character actors were OK, but I was more interested in seeing salvaged treasure! I did enjoy the views from the tower. It was just too pricey for what we got, in our opinion.

“Fun place”

This is a self paced tour and didn't take long. There was a great view of Key West on the lookout tower at the top.
