We stayed at this condominium complex for a week at the end of August and really enjoyed it - would certainly go back.
There are four buildings - 2 storey - with four villas per building. The villas are all very spacious, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, large lounge/dining room with another sleeper sofa and a full kitchen. Best of all is the huge deck terrace that surrounds the condo on three sides giving you great outdoor space and views.
They are well equipped and provide a real home from home.
Port Largo villas are on the marina so you can moor your own boat up there or just enjoy the ambiance. There is a nice pool and jacuzzi plus bbq grills and outdoor dining tables.
It's a very nice quiet place, very private and you really feel like you are in your own private villa - it hasn't got a resort feel at all probably because it is so small. Don't choose this place if you are looking for resort style.
Port Largo is at about MM99, seawardside of the Holiday Inn and next door to the Marina Del Mar Resort. It's a great location. Very quiet yet two minutes to the Overseas Highway and a whole load of restaurants. There is a dive centre on the marina.
The resort staff keep a low key presence and you don't really see anyone about unless you go to the office. They were very helpful to us when we were there through Ernesto.
I can't praise the resort highly enough and will certainly stay there again. I repeat - don't go here if you are looking for all singing all dancing laid on amusements. Go here if you are looking for an extremely comfortable base to come back to after diving or fishing or hitting the beach and if you want to pretend for a little while that you actually own a property at waters edge in the Keys.
