We had been with the keys diver for 3 yrs in a row now and this was by far the worst service yet. Noone was there to help you out of the boat or grab your fins. And yet they were asking us to tip the helper. He did not help anyone ? he did not ask anyone for anything to drink , ect,,,, just alot less service this year then previous years.

This was another of those trips when there were just too many daytrippers onboard, but that's a feature of Keys snorkelling tours, excepting Danger Charters tours down at Key West (also on TripAdvisor) and a couple of others I have since heard about.

The sea was probably rather choppier than normal on the day we went out to the Pennekamp sites, because the smallish boat was pitching this way and that. I was never actually seasick but this was an unusually close run thing for me, and many passengers just couldn't hang onto their breakfasts!

Once out there, to our dismay the Moon Jellyfish season was running late and we were stung in numerous places despite wearing shorty wetsuits - there were so many of those poor blind animals that they couldn't be avoided! The season is usually mid November to early December, if you were wondering, and this was almost New Year. Thankfully no-one discovered an allergy to the stings, which feel like nasty mosquito bites for about 10-15 minutes before mostly clearing up.

The snorkelling sites were really too busy to enjoy fully - obviously there were other groups in addition to our own all trying to get to the reef. I even took a few fins in the face at the Christ monument!

The boat staff were less involved than in other trips - you didn't see them much after the safety briefing until we approached port again. That's not something that bothers us and those wanting a more interactive experience only need to go ask questions.

We've snorkeled twice on Keys Diver - once in 9/06 and again on 12/26/07. We couldn't have had better weather for the day after Christmas - the ocean was like a sheet of glass! We saw a huge turtle, an eel and thousands of fish of all shapes and kinds - including more than one barracuda! It's good to know you can go somewhere resort-oriented and have the same staff there year after year! Reece is definitely the best in helping out the snorkelers, both experienced and first-timers. My college aged daughter was scared to death and I couldn't talk her off the boat. Reece spent five minutes with her and she was snorkeling like a pro! Thanks for a great family experience!

As a first time "scaredy cat" snorkler, I have to say that my vision of the ocean has improved greatly. I wanted to break free from the fear I've had since a kid, so with the support of my ocean-lover husband, made the reservation with Keys Diver while we stayed at the Holiday Inn Key Largo (see review).
We boarded for the 12:15 3-stop tour along with 44 other passengers. We were all entertained by the banter between the Captain and first mate Reed, as well as briefed on where we would go and what we would see. At our first destination, all first-time snorklers got an extra lesson by Reed about our equipment and movement while in the water. This helped me feel prepared physically for my big hop into the big blue. What I saw was priceless, because I never saw fish so beautiful and so unafraid in their natural habitat. We took another stop to the Christ Statue, which brought tears to my eyes, and then a little bit of fear due to the pilgrimage of moon jellyfish that surrounded our waters - I got out early to escape the fear of getting stung (the boat was full before the horn blew to get back on board) The third destination was the Grecian Rocks reef, and was so calming and serene and a wonderful last snorkel area. We boarded the boat, discarded our gear and took a fresh water shower on board, then shared with others of our experiences while the beers were toasted between the passengers(they sell it only after the complete dive is over). WEAR SUNSCREEN and reapply after each dive. Unfortunately, the souvenir I walked away with is still on my butt - a vicious sunburn that I THOUGHT I had covered with sunscreen but apparently missed. ouch. I will go back on this voyage, for after talking to a seasoned snorkler on the boat found out that they have about 6 spots to chose from. Enjoy your own memories on the Keys Diver!

We took a family of 4 (mom, dad, son 12, daughter 8) out for a morning snorkle trip and had a mixed time. The staff and boat were excellent, the weather didn't cooperate, but I won't hold that against them. They ran a very safe boat, the gear was good, the location of the boat is easy to get to and has good parking.

Keys Diver is different than most snorkle boats in that they do 3 sites on trip. This gives more variety as well as more time on diferent reefs. They also do not charge additional if you need snorkle gear - it's included. Most other snorkle boats charge extra for snorkle gear.

I would highly recommend Keys Diver to anyone wanting to try snorkling at Key Largo.
