We visited Dove Creek Lodge in late March for our Honeymoon. We are young mid 20's couple and we compromised on staying here after reading all of the great reviews we found. We were still hesitant to spend so much money ( the rates are pretty high during Spring Break) but I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. During check in Gwen congratulated us on our marriage and showed us to our room. Inside was an Easter basket for us (seeing as we checked in on Easter day). After exploring the one bedroom suite we reserved we went on a tour of the premesis. The grounds were great. If you are looking however for a beach front hotel, this is not for you. There is a great pool and spa next to two hammocks. This is all enclosed by mangroves and on one side are boat slips. The hotel has been recently renovated and we LOVED the decor. Especially how there is only carpet in the bedroom (makes for a cleaner environment). Throughout our stay we enjoyed the continental breakfast each morning. We never did eat at Snappers due to the reviews. We drove all the way to The Fish Company in Islamorada (behind Wide World of Sports) most nights and enjoyed great food and service their each time as well as a gorgeous view (its on the water and we HIGHLY reccomend this place). My new husband did go on an inshore fishing tour set up by Gwen (she is great), and although he didn't catch anything (the weather was quite windy on our stay) he did have a great time. My husband is also an avid angler so he tends to be picky when guides take him out, but he really enjoyed his trip. This is also how we came about this hotel, through different fishing forums online. I can't say enough great things about this hotel. I can guarantee that every time we visit the Keys, we will be staying here.

I initially made a deposit on 2/2/07 of which they charged me $445
I had to change the date of my stay, and they said no problem, but, charged me an additional $445 deposit
On my stay they charged me the full amount, of $559.66 ignoring the deposits
Numerous calls have resulted in no response.
Their reservation and accounting system is non existent. It's a beuatiful resort, but I've been overcharge $890 with no resolution

We stayed here on our way to Key West. Such a laid-back, friendly atmosphere. We loved it. Beautiful property, nice restaurant and bars next door, and wonderful service. We stayed one night, drove to Key West and partied for 3 days, and we had planned to stay in Miami near the airport our last night. We enjoyed Dove Creek so much, that I called and asked if they had any rooms left for our final night, and luckily they had one. It was a great way to decompress.

Both rooms we had were lovely, the beds were comfy, and we nearly had the pool to ourselves. Very relaxing.

We would definitely choose this spot in Key Largo again.

We recently visited the Dove Creek Lodge on our way to Key West and were very satisfied with our visit. We had the Handicapped garden view room which had a balcony(our view was mostly obstructed by a giant palm tree) and a large washroom. The room was clean and simple and the staff was helpful with any questions we had.
Breakfast was included in the price. The choices included granola, fresh fruit, bagels, yogurt and coffee, just to name a few.

The lodge also has a pool, hot tub and a restaurant on site. We unfortunately did not get the chance to do either. Hopefully next time:)
