We stayed here for 4 nights very recently. A point to remember is that Key Largo is not a premier resort community/location (like St. Barts or Hawaii or Capri.) So take "resort" with the grain of salt it deserves. Our room included the amenities of an efficiency kitchen and was "average." The sheets do not get changed every day, but the office provided us with beach towels so we did not have to pack our own. When we walked into the room one afternoon, some odd bug scampered under the bed (we never saw it again). The bathroom shower water gets supremely hot! (a good thing!) but the door is a little sliding number that makes noise. The walls are paper, paper thin, thin, thin (barely there), so we could hear the neighbors' every words!! and we had to tell one neighbor to stop shouting at the football players as they watched the playoffs game. On the other hand, for us, it was a chance to get away from the cold of the north, do absolutely nothing, watch a few sunsets, eat out or in as we chose, and get unlinked from e- and voice-mails. The front desk personnel were friendly, helped us printout our boarding passes the day we left, answered our questions politely, etc.
In short, if you want a resort, stay at the Marriott up the road or someplace else other than the Keys. If you don't mind a bit of "roughing it" this will be fine. It's only a little more than an hour's drive from the Miami airport, there is not much to do, and for us Yankee's it is warm.
