“No Surprises”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2014

After reading the reviews and the information on the Seafarer website I knew exactly what to expect from this property. It is a small, beachy feel resort with clean accommodations and friendly staff. We had a 1 bedroom with a kitchen and it was very comfortable. You need to know that only the basic cleaning items are provided and any cooking supplies you may want should be brought with you. The resort kindly offers orange juice, coffee and small muffins each morning if you find yourself illprepared. The use of kayaks is included as are beach towels. We were asked each morning if we needed anything, the staff are always there to fill your needs and answer your questions. We enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Choose a suite far from the highway as you may be able to hear the traffic.

Nice little cottage!!  It’s larger than it looks on the website, although the bathroom was tiny (just the toilet and shower).  It was perfect for two people.  Two air conditioners (bedroom and living room) kept the whole space comfortable.  Housekeeping was “limited” during our stay, with fresh towels available upon request.  Breakfast was coffee and muffins.  The grounds were quaint, I guess they’d be considered “old Florida”, with lots of places to sit right by the water.  We used the free kayaks for a few hours one afternoon and loved paddling around the mangroves and across the bay.  The staff was laid back and friendly, and offered us their recommendations for restaurants.

We stayed in room 12, a garden view (cheaper) since we figured we wouldn't be in the room much anyways. We checked in and the staff was very friendly; however, when I went to use the bathroom there was actual poop on the seat from the previous user of the room. Given we just drove 2.5 hours from Key West-I cleaned it off myself and used the restroom. The bathroom was clearly not cleaned well before we checked in.

The private beach is tiny; however, they do offer free kayak's which was fun. We kayaked to the right which has some cool mangroves and such to check out. The water is shallow which is nice for if children are there. They also have paddleboards to rent for $20/hour, which seems expensive to me. If you are new to paddleboarding beware of ocean waves, they are harder to stay up on. Just a warning to newbies.

There was a storm during the first night we stayed there and during the heavy rainfall we turned on the lights I noticed there were ants in our bed. Yes, ants. I also noticed some around the room. Needless to say we did not get a good nights sleep.

Also, the mosquitos in the area are VERY BAD. They light tiki torches; however, bring bug spray. The resort is cute and convenient, but our room was a disaster. I did not complain while I was there (who wants to complain and get upset on their vacation?)...but I'm more angry now that I write this review that I didn't say something when I had the chance. Seafarers be warned!!!

We stayed here two nights and were truly sorry not to be staying longer. One morning we were the only people on the beach and it was our our own piece of paradise. It is fairly basic but clean rooms and friendly service go a long way. We were provided with a BBQ one night and it was great to cook in the open air. Two large beds, a microwave and a fridge make up the rooms and a small basic bathroom complete the experience. If it is mod cons and high tech you want, this is not for you but if you want to relax and let your hair down in the most wonderful of surroundings then book it!

We had stayed here for 4 days during the month on May 2014, and found that the rooms were neat and clean. it had kitchen, and microwave. but a patch of beach was kind of disappointing knowing that there are wonderful beaches around the area such as Bahia Honda, Founder's Park etc. First day we were trying to enjoy in the small patch of beach where we had been stung by either jelly fish or some kind on water insects. so we decided to look for another beaches, we asked at the office, the bearded guy told us that there are no beaches around there. But we did not buy it, and started looking for beaches, we found wonderful beach bahia honda, founder's park etc. Hammok, and sunset deck was excellent at the seafarer. Also the laundry facility was good use.

Room Tip: make sure to call them, and ask if the room are next to beach.

We stayed at the Seafarer during the last 5 days of our visit to the US after spending a couple of weeks driving down from New York and it was a little bit of paradise. Check in was simple and friendly and when we changed our plans they were more than accommodating. Patrick looked after us very well and we met some wonderful people who we will keep in touch with. The private beach is idyllic and the surrounding area is beautiful. I was told not to write a review by my other half as more people would go and it would be spoiled but where praise where it is due. Thank you to Frank and Patrick and the whole team for looking after us so well. Look forward to seeing you again.

I can't believe there were so many good reviews on this dump! We did book an "inexpensive room" ($163) and were told it was small. Understatement! The shower was claustrophobic; and I had to stay in it extra long because the water came through at a trickle; and it was hard to rinse shampoo out of my hair. The bathmat did not fit between the shower and toilet, so close together were they, so I folded the mat in half. I am only 5' tall and could not reach to turn the bathroom light, a wall sconce, on. I also could not close the door to the bathroom while on the toilet because the room was so small. One bulb of the overhead fixture was out. The electrical outlet next to the bed did not work. One side of the bed had a small table with tiny lamp on it. There was a wooden ladder-back chair; a tv set on a two drawer ches,t which could not be watched from the bed because it was too low to see; a sink at the foot of the bed (no room in bathroom) that made it necessary to walk around the bed sideways to fit through; a microwave and small refrigerator. The room came equipped with an ant nest in the upper corner of the shower and a few other assorted bugs around. The air conditioner cooled nicely and was VERY noisy. But that's okay because the walls were paper thin and the air conditioner drowned out the consumptive cough of our next door neighbor and some of the vehicle and people sounds passing by. The beach was pretty cruddy and there is no pool. We were short towels, had only paper coffee cups for bathroom use. But the most gross part was when I pulled back the bed cover I discovered used sheets. Luckily the office was still open and the man on the desk came and re-made the bed. The pillow cases were clean, so I guess the housekeeper was asleep on the job. I had prepaid the room; and if the desk had been closed, we'd have left and contested the charges. I really should have demanded to see the room before even giving a deposit. This was truly a horrible place, and I can't imagine what kind of people like it so much. I suspect that owners/employees are jamming the review box. That said, Key Largo seems to be outrageously priced. We paid less for a lovely clean suite with full kitchen, huge porch and private garden, pool, and great service in Old Town Key West.

Room Tip: Find a different place to stay.

HI Snorkel-Bum,

Every guest is important to us, we always take the constructive feedback to improve. Certainly there are points we differ on but we operate with the customer is always right philosophy.

Garden 1 and Garden 2 are small rooms and very popular. They are designed for one double bed but many guests suggested a larger bed over the extra space and we upgraded the beds to queens. Your suggestion to move the TV is a great idea!

In the Keys as in most resort towns, prices will vary between a single night stay of weekend/holiday versus a midweek multiple night stay. With that said our prices are usually 20% lower than a comparable property and also why the smallest rooms are the most popular.

Maybe you'll consider to give us another opportunity in the future and I will personally make sure we exceed your expectations on price, room and service!
