This place was one of 3 recommended to us by the dive shop we'd been visiting, and we're happy we selected this one. When we first arrived at around 4:00 p.m. there were only about 3 tables full of people, so I'm not sure what this place is like when it fills up (it's not large, but there are panels on the wall to dampen the sound so the place isn't so loud), but our experience was incredible. Prices were extremely reasonable, service was fast and attentive, and everything we all ordered (everything from crab and calimari to chicken to salads to pasta) were all incredible. Portions were huge, and the friendliness of the staff really made this place as well; they had a great kids' menu and crayons for them to play with, and servers paid special attention to the children and made them feel welcome. I'd recommend this place in a heartbeat to anyone. If you don't have room for dessert, take some with you for later, it's worth it! The only drawback we found is that, while there are seats and tables outside, we were told they weren't licensed to serve food out there so we did have to sit indoors to eat. Minor in my opinion.

My girlfriend and I went at Hobo's at the beginning of March 2008, we enjoyed a very nice meal, excellent and friendly service, would definitely recommend.

We came here upon the advice of a local tour guide, and were extremely pleased. The service and food were terrific, all the way from the salad through the main course and dessert. We even came back again the next night, and experienced the same. Our fish was excellent - both nights. The building appears to be fairly new, and it's a pleasant atmosphere. Our recommendation is A+!

This may have been the worst meal I have ever had in a restaurant in my life--definitely the worst meal ever in the keys (or the state of FL for that matter). I am a local--I live in Miami and my brother lives in Key West. Based on the good reviews (?) we went to Hobo's since our parents were renting a condo in Key Largo. I am not sure where to begin--my fish (grilled mahi) was disgusting--mushy, smelly, no grilling marks, so wet the bread was soaked--I couldn't finihsh even half of it My brothers both had differnt variations of the catch of th day--all horrible--poorly prepared, frozen seafood--nothing fresh or local about it. Mom's lobster tail was close to inedible it was so overcooked. Sad to say but I think we could have gotten a tastier meal at a Red Lobster in Oklahoma. The service was terrible as well--they sat 5 of us (including my Dad who is in a wheelchair) at a table for 4, our meals were brought out before we had finsihed the appetizers (escargot and conch fritters which were the only decent thing we had that night), not once were we asked how our meal was (not hard to tell given how much was left on the plates.) Do not eat here! If you are looking for good seafood try Snapper's or head to Islamorada and go to Lor-e-lai's, Lazy Days or the Islamorada Fish Company.
