This was a relatively decent place to go for dinner. It was close to where we were staying which we appreciated. The food was decent, not anything all that unusual but good for what it was. The service was good at first. Once we got our food, we were pretty much ignored while the server chatted with other workers--the place wasn't busy. Prices were probably what you would expect for the area, on the high side as the Keys area tends to be.
We have dined at the Cafe Largo twice, during trips in 2005 and 2006. We enjoy the excellent service and the quality and presentation of the dinners. We recommend the Cafe Largo highly, They are certainly heads and shoulders above most of the dining facilities in the Keys.
I judge an Italian restaurant by its pasta. The sauce was sweet and spaghetti limp (very much like spaghetti from a can). The vegetables with my meal were almost burnt. The steak and lobster were expensive. My steak was not prepared as ordered. Florida lobster is not as sweet or meaty as Maine's. (I know that's what I get for not going with an Italian dish). The service was decent. The atmosphere was quaint. The Tower of Pizza is a better choice for Italian at less than half the price.
