We stayed a couple nights in Key Largo and decided to try Calypso's one night for dinner. We enjoy dining near the water, so this place fit the bill. Casual dining, good food, average prices. Didn't take credit cards which I found inconvenient.

We stayed a couple nights in Key Largo and decided to try Calypso's one night for dinner. We enjoy dining near the water, so this place fit the bill. Casual dining, good food, average prices. Didn't take credit cards which I found inconvenient.
We ate here one night, we were surprised as we were eating in the restaurant that we were served with plastic knives and forks, we didn't particularly enjoy what we ate, and didn't visit again.
Pluses - Near the water
Minuses - Don't take credit cards, Bad food, limited selection, gruff service, no dessert. expensive
I went to this place because I saw more favourable reviews than not on Trip Advisor... for me, they proved wrong.
Lo and behold, this hole in the hole didn't deliver at all. The atmosphere seemed to cater to a happy-hour only crowd. The plastic plates and cutlery we received definitely didn't add to it.
Other reviews claimed they had the best conch fritters... well, they don't even have conch fritters on their menu...
Our conch was fried in so much batter, that i had to take it off by hand. The entrees were bland, and my angel hair pasta underneath my fish was cold... my wifes seafood pasta was watery.
And our tab came out to $60... to top it off, they didn't take credit cards, but conveniently had an ATM in the restaurant, where they jack you for a $1.75 fee.
Overrated; please AVOID!
We stopped for lunch on 2/24/07 after going to the Marine Flea Market. Service was very friendly and fast. We sat in the open area over looking the harbor. Our lunch was great. We put this place in our GPS.

Stopped there for drinks and was welcomed by friendly staff. VERY casual, but just right for a stop and traveling towards the most southern spot in the US!
