I'm amazed at the previous review! We loved Calypso's and would rate the food and the atmosphere one of our best in the Keys. We went back for our last night - can we say more - but it was still closed after Ernesto.
The bar area is a bit drab but just walk through and you come out to the lovely restaurant right on the dock. It's not fancy at all - if you're looking for that, look elsewhere but the food was superb. We enjoyed the coconut shrimp very much and also the seafood chowder was excellent. Best of all were the seared sushi steaks with wasabi - absolutely the best we had eaten in Florida and believe me, after 4 weeks on vacation, we had eaten a lot!!!!
The service was good - the waitress who was originally from England - was very friendly and helpful. Margaritas were also good.
I would definitely recommend. Dining in the Keys is all about informality, that whole laid back island feeling and Calypso's certainly has that.
