We have just returned home after a second visit to Azul. Last year we stayed for eight nights. This year we managed twelve. Once again Azul met all of our needs and exceeded all of our expectations. Azul is the perfect location to escape from a busy world. An oasis of calm, set in beautiful grounds with private dock and beach.

Splash out and stay in one of the deluxe Sea View suites and wake to a view of Florida Bay. The colours seem different every morning. Sunsets are equally stunning and best enjoyed with a large glass of chilled Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc!

There are cycles and kayaks to borrow. You can enjoy a massage in the privacy of your room. If you want to explore, then Azul is a great base to travel to other parts of the Keys, visit the Everglades, or even venture up to Miami. There are some great places to eat close to Azul, the nearest being Hobos. We also recommend Flamingo.

A review of Azul would not be complete without a big thank you to the owners, Dominic and Karol Marsden. The only problem is that when you have visited Azul once, you will want to return again and again and again.

All the good things you've read about this place are true! The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean; the grounds are pretty, relaxing and the folks on the property...all three of them, are friendly and are there to make your trip enjoyable, especially Dominick, the owner. I felt like a welcomed guest at a friend's oceanfront home. We came to relax and this was a great place to do it. Only remember...this is not a good place for kids - it's quiet, relaxing and subdued. Come here when you leave them home. Whether sitting on the dock or in one of the tiki huts, it was a pleasant, quiet experience. When we needed something to do or a recommendation for a place to eat, Dominick was on top of it, taking a lot of the risk out of our trip. Recommendations: Go to the Key Largo Coffee House for breakfast and try Hobo's for dinner (walking distance from the hotel). We also enjoyed Senior Friojles, but would have liked it better if the weather was warmer and could sit outside.

My husband and I stayed at the Azul for 2 nights in late February 2006. We had a wonderful, relaxing time and we highly recommend this adults-only boutique hotel to couples looking for a romantic getaway. We didn't even mind the fact that the hotel was reconstructing their dock, which had been destroyed in a hurricane last summer. The owners are attentive to every detail, from the landscaping to the room decor. A pleasant surprise was the basket of hot pastries and tropical yogurt that was delivered to our door at breakfast time. We ate dinner both nights at a wonderful, unpretentious restaurant located 2 doors down from the hotel called Hobo's. When construction is complete in a couple of months, this hotel will truly be a paradise! By the way, room rates are quite reasonable.

This was our first trip to the Florida Keys, and we wanted a quiet and romantic setting for our vacation there. We are very pleased to report that Azul del Mar exceeded our expectations, from the stunning, large ocean-view suite, to the helpfulness of Dominic Marsden, who guided us to some great restaurants in the area. Our suite was decorated very tastefully, and kept impeccably clean during our four-day stay. The repairs on the dock (damage from Hurricane Wilma) were nearly complete when we left. Given hotel prices for comparable settings in the Keys, we think this hotel is a great value.
