“Great service, comfortable rooms, beautiful view.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013 via mobile

We were very happy with our stay at Bay Harbor Lodge in Key Largo. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The view was wonderful. I was especially impressed with the staff. Erik checked us in and was kind and accommodating. Breakfast was fresh baked scones from the owner who offered to send me the recipe. It felt like a family affair with people who cared about their business and their guests. I would recommend a stay here.

My wife and I stayed here with two of my sisters after a cruise for three days. This was the perfect place for us. We originally booked into two queen rooms, but decided to upgrade to one king room and one efficiency (with two queen beds). Definitely get the upgraded room if you can afford it, quite a bit more space. The owner is very active at the resort and she personally makes the scones that are served each morning along with coffee, great way to start the day.

The resort is actually a combination of what was formerly two resorts (Bay Harbor and Coconut Bay), so the waterfront is very spacious and included two piers and plenty of seating, along with a sandy beach. As a nice bonus, they provide use of sea kayaks free of charge. We went out three different times during our stay and went into some of the nearby mangrove swamps to view wildlife (iguanas, egrets, starfish). Nice pool area, pool is heated on cooler days.

The staff is very pleasant and very helpful. We lost one of our four keys and there was no charge. Very comfortable location, many of their customers come back year after year, many of them from Europe. I can understand why. This will be our chosen location for coming back to the Keys again in the future. It is located in the southwest part of Key Largo, giving good access to Key Largo, Tavernier and Islamorada, as well as a day trip to Key West (we went there one of the days on our trip).

One final bonus--they have very friendly squirrels on the property that will eat out of your hand (if you would like to feed them). Lots of fun/cool pics from our trip.

Room Tip: If you can afford the upgrade, get an efficiency, which is about 2x the size of a normal room, with...

On a recent trip to Cape coral we decided to take a trip to the keys for a few days. Bay Harbor not only got us in on a last minute during the holidays but made our short stay very pleasant. The Sunsets are amazing, there are plenty of local dinning spots with great food and live music. You won't be disappointed with the rooms, the service, the amenities or the freshly backed scones every morning! Thank you to everyone that makes Bay Harbor a peaceful retreat!!

This is a great way for a couple or family to visit the keys, relax and feel at home. The efficiencies are very clean affordable and the waterfront is a nice bonus. The beach is small but they make up for it with plenty of sitting room on piers and patios, plus you have your own sittting table and BBQ. The ownwer is very accomodating. I will be going back for sure.....

Room Tip: Quieter beach front rooms are at the center of the property.

We called into the chamber of commerce to ask for advice on where to stay in key largo. The woman there pressured us into choosing the bay harbor even when we asked about other places. She told us it was close to the town, had just been renovated. She told us about the views we would have over the ocean, and that all that would be ours for $78. We were taken in I am sorry to say. But we were on a long trip and happy at the thought of saving a few bucks.

We went to check it out. It,s a long way from town. The renovated rooms with a view are $150+ The cheap room is a pokey little room in a building closer to the highway than the ocean.

Having said that, the room was clean and tidy and just about ok for the money.

Just don't listen to the woman in the chamber of commerce.

Thank you for staying with us at Bay Harbor Lodge and Coconut Bay Resort. We do have a variety of rooms to choose from ranging from standard rooms to waterfront cottages and they are priced accordingly. All of our guests do have access to the waterfront area that has a large tiki hut, lounge chairs, complimentary kayaks and paddleboat and amazing sunset views over the bay. Key Largo is a very small town and we are at the southern end but that is only 1 mile away from the Downtown Key Largo area. You wanted to save a few bucks and choose a cheaper room but we are happy to hear that it was clean and tidy.

This is one of my favorite places on Earth. It is quiet and tucked back off of the road. Everyone is always friendly and the ocean access is perfect. They have kayaks available for the guests to use, but if you have some of your own you might want to bring them. We go back every year and love it every time.

This hotel is so cute! It's has "Old Florida" charm and style but is fixed up nicely and very quiet and tucked out of the way. There are two or three restaurants you can walk to from there and we loved it! I am planning a trip back. We were in an unfortunate Scuba accident while in the Keys (no connection to the hotel) and the staff went out of their way to help us out and make our stay as good as it could be under the circumstances. It was the next best thing to having family there with us and I really cannot say enough nice things about them and the hotel. I definitely recommend it!
