“wouldn't recommend it”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

Even though it is one of the cheapest in the area and expectations should be low, it still ended up being a disappointing stay. After you spend some time there, it is clear that not much effort is put into maintaining the rooms. Beds have a very cheap feel to them... unless you love a very hard mattress. TV is quite old and the list of channels next to the tv did not match (why would that list remain in the room?). Internet is available and slow. Front desk person was annoyed when I asked for the password. He was certain it is on one of the papers left in the room (it wasn't). Breakfast was simple, but enough to get you going for the day. Parking is available and easy. The area isn't that great to look at. You don't feel like you are near water, which is ok, but not at all what we were expecting. Next time I need to stay in Key Largo, I will spend an extra $100 per night to stay at a nice hotel located on the water.

We offer an economical alternative to budget minded travelers. Our facilities are clean, safe and fully functional. We tend to be priced at least $100. less than the other hotels in the area which
means usually they are twice our prices. If you are looking for a full service luxury resort, we are not that and don't claim to be, but we are the only complete smoke free facility at any price in our area.

This hotel is good value, comfortable and clean (non-smoking too!). My husband and I stayed here for one night; and we do not understand why people gave poor reviews. We found the room spacious enough; the beds comfortable/clean (no bugs at all) and the bathroom sparkling clean. Rooms are cleaned everyday by a few kind ladies.

The paint in the rooms might seem old, but we realised it was really part of the design; the rooms look like they have been refurbished recently. Wifi was fast. Breakfast was simple but filling, and was promptly replenished (muffins, fruit, tea/coffee, juices). It was close to a good restaurant too - the Pilot House serves wonderful seafood. Overall a really pleasant stay! Would recommend to travellers.

This is not a resort hotel, very basic but decent for the price.
The room felt clean, staff were nice, and all amenities worked as expected. I'm sensitive for smells and really appreciated their strict policy on non-smoking. Many hotels boast non-smoking but you get the smell from smoking section anyway... but not this place, at least during my stay.
Breakfast is basic and good for this range of hotel. Muffins, bananas, orange juice, vegetable juice, and coffee.
I thought it was going to be a perfect stay, until a person next door started leaving the TV on all night. The wall was so thin that I could hear everything from there, and I couldn't sleep very well with the noise. I guess it's up to the guests if they want to watch TV all night... but the hotel should be prepared for that.
Also, I think the bed didn't help my sleep either -- maybe too firm? bedding too thin? I'm not sure, but it was not comfortable at all.

Old and worn out but neat and clean, clean sheets, clean towels and no bugs. Breakfast items include muffins, fruit, juice and coffee. No smoking, no pets. Friendly staff. If all you need is a place to stay, this is the place. A great jumping off point to the Keys. A great buy.

This motel is clean and well appointed and a good convenient stop on the way to key west. It is good value and has a welcome non smoking policy. It has a much more individual character than a chain motel and the management were very helpful on where to eat in town. enjoyed it.

This is a small "mom and pop" establishment reminiscent of an earlier era in The Keys. Though you don't walk in and go Wow! over the decor, the rooms are clean and contain hair dryers, soap, shampoo, coffee and a brewer. And the wifi works in the room. There is a pool and an ice machine on the premises, as well as a bar room where one can buy alcoholic drinks and the coffee pot is always on. In the morning a small complimentary breakfast is provided featuring pastries and fruit. Because the motel is located alongside Highway 1 you never really escape the noise of the traffic. This is most noticeable at night. And the bright light right outside our doorway allowed too much light to seep through the window blinds for me to have a great night's sleep. However, the central location of this motel (just a few miles from the northern beginning of Key Largo, on the bike path and within walking distance of several good restaurants) and the friendly attitudes of the staff more than made up for its inconveniences. For a small fee we were allowed to leave our cars in their parking lot for the week while we rode our bicycles to Key West and back. Upon our return we were allowed to use their poolside shower room to wash off the road grime and change into clean, street clothes. The best feature of all was the exceptionally reasonable room rate.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in a corner to get away from the hall lights.

This could be your first landing point to explore the keys, but there's much more down all the road to Key West. The staff are nice and the building is old but not in bad conditions. The breakfast is pretty basic. It's just on the main road, so quite noisy even late in the evening. It's a rather cheap accomodation for the area, but what you get is aligned with the price.
