A very nice stand alone hotel with all the usual qualities you would expect from Holiday Inn. Decent customer service and amenities with no complaints. We stopped over for one night whilst driving to Key West and found the location to be extremely convenient. If you are a fan of the the 'African Queen' relive the Bogart and Hepburn experience at the boat which is berthed a short walking distance away.

Love the Holiday Inn in Key Largo. Have spent many weekends at this Holiday Inn and we have always enjoyed out visits. The pools are excellent and there is a great hot tub we always enjoy.
Great tiki bar and on weekends there is pool side live music. Always an enjoyable experience. We love Ann Marie - she works the front desk and always exceeds our expectations. The buffet breakfast every morning is enjoyable and the servers are great. Thanks Holiday Inn for another fun visit.

Booked the hotel as a package deal with a dive charter for a week. I guess the price was not bad (worked out to about $120.00 a night,) but to call this place a resort is a joke. It is tired, worn out and outfitted in contemporary '70's. The grounds center around a large pool and open air Tiki bar, not bad for a quick bite and a beer or two. The rooms stink, literally and figuratively. In a severly humid location, they still have the floor/wall A/C units that pump out the cold air, causing EVERYTHING close to it to get condensation on it - towels, clothes, bedsheets, etc. Room is small, bathroom was tiny, and absolutely no way to deal with wet dive gear - thank the Lord I had several contractor garbage bags to cover the floor and bed with.

There is a "restaurant" called Bogies (only serves breakfast), that advertises a breakfast buffet every day, but as it was the off season, the first time we asked for it we were told "It was not worth it for so few guests." I informed the manager that their sign clearly stated the buffet was served every day, however when we left the sign was still there unchanged, and still no buffet.

The only good thing is their proximity to the marina - you literally walk outside and across a small parking lot to the boat.

Across the marina (literally next door) is a Courtyard Marriott, which could have the same caliber of amenities but we did not check it out. Down the highway is the Hilton - we went there for dinner and it seemed nice but no idea as to catering to divers.

In short - if all you plan to do is crash after diving, clean up, get dinner and come back and sleep, if you are prepared to handle the jerry-rigging needed to clean and assemble your dive gear, this hotel is adequate. If you expect ANYTHING else as far as service, amenities or extra comfort, look elsewhere.

Room Tip: A room facing the outside away from the pool is next to the parking lot, so it's easier to pack...

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Key Largo last weekend. My wife and I where working a wedding in the area and wanted a clean quiet place to stay.
This place fit the bill quite well. The front desk even gave me a better rate then what I had reserved online. We stayed in a "KING STANDARD" room which had a king size bed and a sofa-bed. The room didn't have a microwave (which would of been nice) but did have a refrigerator. The bathroom and sleeping area were nice, big, and clean. Plenty of towels too.
My Only complaint was of a HUGE roach that crawled from behind the AC unit at night. This was more likely because of that weekends torrential downpour rather than cleanliness.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

I apologize for the Palmetto bug as this something native to Florida especially with rain as you stated.

We stayed at this hotel with the two kids for spring break in 2013. The pools were excellent: both pools and the hot tub. The tiki bar was always popular and service was good. The restaurant was the largest disappointment. The food was good but the service was "hit and miss." A couple of the servers were great, but the majority of them were slow and inattentive. Sometimes our food took much longer than expected. If the restaurant wasn't right there in the hotel where we spent a lot of time swimming, we wouldn't have eaten there as much.

We stayed overnight here and spent a lovely afternoon at the pool. The food and drinks at the tiki bar were very good and The African Queen is moored there...neat!!There are also many cruise boats and scuba/snorkeling tours there to choose from. We had a nice stay there and enjoyed very much.

Room Tip: all are nice
