Pleasantly surprised. Really really nice rooms. Seemed like a 5 star. They gave us a room overlooking the water above the trees and it was breathtakingly beautiful. Really first class. Further down the Keys we stayed at another more expensive place but it wasn't half as nice nor as classy. You won't be disappointed and you won't want to leave. We came back a couple days later just to get over the bad experience of the other place. We showed up with no reservation and with a little wait we were back in. Too bad there are so many good reports now about this place. It'll start getting popular and hard to get into, but for now - it was a great find!

lets start with the positives, the property has a lovely view, since it is right on the water. and the water is so pretty. the beds are comfy. and the maid was friendly. now the negatives. the pool is in the parking lot, not exactly relaxing. the room has low acoustic ceilings circa 1970's, giving it a cramped feeling. there was mold on
the shower curtain, tiny bathroom. they charge you 10.00 a day to park, absolutely ridiculous. the towel lady freaked out when my husband took some towels one morning because she said they could not be taken off of the beach. this property is not handicapped accesible, all of the elevators were "temporarily "out of order. all in all this place has potential, but it needs a new attitude and and better management.

I was a bit worried about the hotel after reading some negative reviews but I must say I was very happy with my stay. The pool is very nice with the waterfall and we even saw a wild iguana in one of the trees that a friendly staff member pointed out to my wife. Our room was supposed to face just the woods but we had both ocean and woods view which we were able to enjoy the sunsets from our balcony. My wife and I really liked the fact that the resort kept many native trees from Key Largo and intertwined them with the resort and beach. Just bring some bug spray if you choose to walk the natural trails as we got bitten up pretty good and didn't realize it till later! The restaurant was overpriced for the quality, but as a friendly bartender told us prior, you are paying for not having to leave the hotel + I had a $20/day credit to the restaurant and my resort fee/parking fees waived. I felt the hotel was worth my internet rate but might have been disappointed if I had not received the special. The staff were all VERY friendly which I read just the opposite in many reviews. Eat breakfast at Harriets and dinner at the Fish House both excellent and reasonably priced but bring cash if you go to Harriets as they don't take credit card (we found that out after we ordered!). If you eat at the resort, hopefully you have a voucher like us. I would come back to the Key Largo Grande again, it is a beautiful resort tucked away from US1 making you feel like you are on your own island.

First of all, i was hesitant when my gf booked the hotel online. The minute i walked in i was pleasantly surprised!!! The place was great, our room was HUGE! And let me just say, we only stayed one night, and we were going to hit the beach in Islamorada however, we drove and drove and found nothing in comparrison to the beach and pools the Grande provided, so we turned around and headed back to Grande and stayed there all day until driving to Key West. We LOVED the chairs in the ocean and tiki bar. It was perfect, relaxing and MORE than i could have expected since i never liked Key Largo. They upgraded our room for free to the view of the trees, tho next time it may be worth the few extra bucks to see the ocean tho we could see it through the limbs.. The trails were cute and clean, the bars were friendly. They didn't even charge us the $18 resort fee. The staff was almost too friendly at the pool.. we will be back, even if we don't drive all the way to key west.. Free noodles and you have the option to rent beach things such as sailboats and jetskis right there on the beach...
