The hotel is great for a long weekend get away. If you like the Keys, this is a good choice. Do NOT eat at the Cafe Key Largo. The food was just plain awful. The fish dishes were unedible. There are so many better choices close by. Their fancy resturant (Treetops) was closed for renovations. The room was well done. Great views of the gulf. Good watersports available. The beach area is very good for the Keys.

Students, beware! This hotel does by all means accept any and all reservations with no restrictions -- that is until you show up at the desk, after driving for hours on end, only to find out you cannot check in if you are under the age of twenty-one and have not brought your parents with you!!! This policy is not stated anywhere in the info on the website, nor is it posted in the lobby of the hotel. We acknowlege the hotel's priviledge to discriminate by letting a room to whomever they choose (or not), but please, post it somewhere it will be seen -on the website and in the lobby- before we drive for 8+ hours thinking we'll have a place to stay when we get there. This was just not cool. (What do they do about under 21 newly-weds? Adjoining rooms? Parents of the bride or groom?)

I gave this hotel 2 stars because It's really just OK with some problems. It's not neutral or average and definitely not above average. The hotel is not your usual sheraton. It's a bit dated in it's furnishings and bars/restaurants.

If you're looking to have a low key quick weekend getaway without the frills and don't require much pampering then it's the perfect place. If you're used to higher end vacation places you may come back from here unfulfilled.

The resort has a very calming relaxing atmosphere, the nature trails, dock to walk out on watch the sunset, sandy beach with little bbq. There's also a pool area one for just adults and one for adults with kids which I could totally appreciate. You can also get a massage by the adult pull under the water falls.

So the place definitely has it's nice touches.

The reason I gave it some problems is only because it's not modern and updated. It's not your average Sheraton. As far as the menu is concerned those that stay at Sheraton hotels know that the menus are the same in every Sheraton hotel, this is no exception.

We were on our honeymoon and stayed here for three nights just after hurricane Wilma hit Florida. We were upgraded to a gulf view room which was a lovely spacious comfortable room looking onto to the lovely beach area. We went to the rooftop restaurant the first night - the food was lovely (esp the grouper & pinapple sauce)and staff very friendly, however it was a bit quiet and lacking in atmosphere. Two pools - one for kids and one for adults only although no-one seemed to bother with the rules. The pools are very secluded in amongst trees. Unfortunately you can't go for walks along beach (too small) or to nearby restaurants. You have to drive everwhere. I think this is a perfect stopover hotel if you are on your way to Key West but I wouldn't stay more than 2-3 nights. We would go back if we were ever in the area again although more likely to stay in the Key West area.
