I was initially excited to stay at this resort, upon learning that Hilton had taken over this hotel from Sheraton and renovated it. Turns out they just slapped a coat of paint on it and did little else to update it. The pool area sits in a completely isolated area, a long walk across the hot parking lot, and after our initial look at the totally inadequacy of it we never returned. The typical guest room is small, and so it the bathroom area. We had reserved a suite, but when we checked in there were none available so we got stuck in a regular room. The guest rooms are already showing wear. My bed had duck tape on the base, the bedding, specifically the duvet cover had seen better days (it was completely pilled). The one thing that stands out most is that there were never enough chaise lounges at the beach area. I had to pay ($20 in tips) 2 days in a row for extra chairs (sans any padding/covers) to be brought out for us. There were fire ants on the beach in certain areas (unfortunately for us, it was one of the areas we found ourselves in on our first day there). The water sports facility run on the beach was fine, and the price was decent. The hotel does have the best beach area on the Florida Bay side, too bad Hilton did not put the effort in required to make this a first class resort. I can't wait until Cheeca Lodge opens back up.

Nice looking hotel by Keys' standards and convenient location in Key Largo. The room was nice, however the bed was uncomfortable.

If you reserve a "grande waterview room" be prepared to either compromise on the view or wrangle with the frontdesk staff to get the view you paid for. Many of the rooms have only a "peakaboo" waterview, which they acknowledge by saying they know they need to trim the trees in front of the rooms. Even on the third floor, many of the rooms don't have good views.

The "private beach" is little more than a slightly sandy area with a large amount of beach chairs. Not private and definitely overrated.

Paying $12/day for parking is ridiculous given the price of the rooms. And, paying $13/day for Internet access is as well. Using the Internet access in the main building was worthless because of the too-slow connection speed.

We drove down from Tampa and our 2 rooms were not ready until after 5p.m. We were on the second floor facing the beach yet we could not really see the beach because of all of the trees blocking our view. The rooms themselves were fine but the bathrooms need to be updated and cleaned a bit better (there was hair from a prior guest all over the bathroom floor.) The pool location is odd - it is across a parking lot. The picture of the pool is very creative - the pool itself is very tiny. We opted to go to the beach for most of our stay. Unfortunately, they did not have enough lounge chairs and we had to wait 20 minutes for them to bring some out. They were dirty when they brought them out. While waiting, our feet were bitten by ants, which were all over the beach.

The next morning, it was impossible to get a waiter's attention at breakfast. After waiting 15 minutes, I got up and asked the hostess what to do. She ended up acting as a waitress. The breakfast was not very good unfortunately.

The actual lobby area is very nice but the computer connection is very slow. The room we had was not nearby and we had to walk outside for quite a while to get there in the 95 degree heat (sort of like a motel.) They also charge $12 per day to park your own car. You also take up your own luggage to your room.

We normally stay at Cheeca Lodge but as it is being renovated were unable to do so. Plus, we are "Diamond Club" Hilton members and had points for the stay. I would not return to this property ever. It is not up to Hilton standards.

Stayed 2 nights on our way to Key West, enjoyed our stay.
The beach was very pretty and private. The buffet breakfast
was Great ! Pool was nice, a separate pool for adults and
families. This hotel was a good value for the money.
We would definitely go back when in Key Largo again!
