“Great place to dive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

Great visability and lots of interesting sea creatures. We saw two sharks (nice ones), a few eels, a few sting rays and some turtles. The reef was beautiful. The water was warm even though the air temp was only 65 degrees.

“Abundant marine life”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2014

This a great reef to dive, 40ft max, allows long dives and marine life is abundant. Massive grouper, barracudas and nurse shark.
Great for the beginner to expert diver.

“Glass bottom boat ride to reef”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

We took a ride on a glass bottom boat to Molasses Reef on our last day in Key Largo. It was a little windy, so the seas where a little rough. It took 45 minutes to get out to the reef and due to the somewhat rough water, many people on the boat were unfortunately using the supplied barf bags. Once we got to the reef area, we did get to see lots of nice coral and fish, but again the rough water probably limited the amount of activity in the area. We had small children with us which is why we opted for the boat tour, but this reef is probably better seen via snorkeling or diving.

“Nice reef”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2013

My first time diving in the keys and it was quite different from my previous dive in Thailand. There weren't any sea urchins for one and I saw much much more schools of fish. It's a very colorful dive and if you're lucky, you'll spot a shark.

“Here's your fishing spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2013

The fishing around the reef is about as good as it gets down here. Molasses is my personal favorite because its straight out from our dock. The depth drops off fast soon after you pass the reef. The yellow tail never stop..... Just make sure you anchor OUTSIDE of the reef boundary buoys.
The diving here is spectacular also!!
