I came to this hotel not knowing what I was really getting myself into. But to my surprise it was actually a very nice hotel compared to others in the Keys! They are in the process of finishing this hotel up. The rooms really are nice. They held up to the other Doubletrees and they may have even surpassed the others! Flat screen TV's in every room, very clean rooms(unlike most in the Keys) You can actually move around in your bath room and the shower wow I was impressed. This is not a party place the Tiki bar was even open but they did say they are in the process of redoing it and having it open. The beach is not all that great but it is still nice. Like I said this is more of a family resort. If you want to party keep driving down to Islamorada. But in all this hotel is very nice and for the price it is unbeatable! Oh yeah did I mention the sunset WOW!!!
We just came back from spending 3 nights at the Doubletree. The pictures on the Trip Advisor site are exactly what you should expect (except missing the sunsets). Nice clean grounds, and the management was courteous and accommodating. The on-site restaurant should be finished early 2007. For now, guests receive an abundant late-night food basket consisting of fruit, granola bars, muffins, juices and water for the next day.
There is a microwave and mini fridge with small freezer compartment big enough for about 6 water bottles. Be sure to bring plates and utensils if doing your own food prep.
The rooms are very comfortable and nicely decorated. I was surprised there was a shower only. If traveling with small children, you might want to ask if the room has a bath tub.
We would definitely stay here again (and eat at Hobo's, only 1/2 mile south of the property).
Rooms are newly remodeled, upscale and very clean with comfortable beds, nice linens and plush towls. Property is still under renovations, no coffee shop or main lobby yet, but the sunset views are worth the stay. I've been there when it was the old "HOJO", and there is no comparison. I stayed 2 nights for a dive trip and will stay again.
We arrived at this hotel about midnight after spending the day at key west. The hotel room was lovely - two big double beds, tv, lovely shower and fab location. We were starving when we arrived so the receptionist advised a pub acroos the road. It looked dodgy but the food was lovely and the atmosphere was great.
The Keys alone are just beautiful so to have a lovely hotel as this was a great bonus.
Would def stay there again.
