“Great place to kayak”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

I don't recommend Pennekamp for snorkeling. They boast there awesome Spanish canons and shipwrecks but all we saw was seaweed and a few minnows. Skip it and rent a kayak and ride the mangroves was a relaxing ride.

Please remember this Park Patron was snorkeling within the land-based Cannon Beach Swim area, located within Largo Sound. This is a mangrove / beach environment with a sandy and seagrass bottom.

The Snorkel Boat tour destinations are located along the large coral formations found 3-5 miles offshore.

We thank you all for your input and patronage.

We hope to see you soon.

Regards,

Capt. Daryl D. Obenour

“Gateway to the Reefs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

Great Campground started camping here in the 80's. kayaking the mangroves, rentals available, snorkel trips to the reef $, walking paths, the indoor aquarium is wonderful. The park is centrally located so you are a bike ride to shopping and a few hour ride to Key West.

“perfect for snorkelers”

crystal clear warm and calm water - try the day trips out onto the reef if like snorkeling, or just relax and picnic

“Glass Bottom Boat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

The boat is very well air-conditioned. You will spend forty-five minutes at Molasses Reef. On our trip, we observed a green sea turtle and a nurse shark in addition to the more common sighted fish.

The boat guides were friendly, and the young lady providing real-time narration is clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about the reef, its inhabitants and importance as a part of Earth's ecosystems.

“Very Interesting!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

I don't dive, but was very interested in seeing what I could see of the reef. The "museum" and aquarium were great, but I didn't get to go out on the boat, as my timing was off, and the day I was there, it was extremely windy. Definitely go!
