We were not able to get into Frank's restaurant and were searching for an alternative. We found Sparky's Landing and were impressed by the atmosphere. We were traveling with kids and were suprised that there was not a children's menu, but the waitress explained they could make any dish smaller for us. We tried to order the fish tacos grilled, rather than fried and were told the "management frowns upon that". Understood, so we ordered them as recommended. THEY WERE FABULOUS!!! We went to check out and discovered they do not take all major credit cards and found ourselves scrambling to pay the bill. How Embarrassing!!! If this has ever happened to you, you know just how we felt! This is when our experience went downhill. The owner or manager was not understanding and treated us like criminals. I have never been treated like I was trying to skate out on a bill in my life. $36 - really? Who would try to steal this from a restaraunt? Obviously we were in a bind and the manager/owner was a jerk. He would not offer any solutions other than for us to drive 1 hour and he would keep our liscense and credit card until we got back. Again, we were traveling with young kids and it was late in the evening. I offered to call my husband and give him our debit card over the phone. He said no. He then left our table and sat at the bar to talk to friends and eat. We borrowed money from the next table and went to pay him. He was rude and explained to us that he had not eaten since breakfast and he was going to pass out. He rudely got our credit card and gave it back and went back to eating his meal. I would crave those tacos again - but there are too many business owners out there that would appreciate our business more. So, we will not go back.
