Silver Sands is a great location in order to walk to the Sony Open tennis tournament. Clean rooms, heated pool, nothing fancy but meets our needs! The rooms are a little dated but I had a roll away bed and it was very comfortable

Room Tip: Pool side rooms are best!

another hidden gem...while this "motel" could use upgrades and rennovations...the stay here is about location...location...location...3 of the rooms sit right on the sand 50 ft from ocean...there are approx 6 cottage style rooms and the singles...its by no means the "ritz" however, a must for "hiding out" island style...staff is very sweet...locals all been there for years...low season great rates...high season...good luck...always at capacity...enjoy!!!

Reminds me of the Bates Motel in the Hitchcock thriller Psycho. Run down and smells moldy. We were supposed to stay here 5 nights and decided not to even stay 1. We left and drove 5 miles over the bridge to Miami and for the same money stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel where the rooms were modern, clean and beautiful and the hotel had tons of amenities-- no comparison!!

Yes, it's like motor courts used to be on the beach. Yes, it's in a great location, safe, and quiet. But frankly it's just about worn out. We stayed in one of the three beachside rooms. Linens old, shower small, beds substandard, toilet ran most of the time, sliding door wouldn't lock easily. For $375 per night,
just not a realistic option for our next trip to the tennis tournament.

If you are going to stay there, get a poolside unit. Lots of construction around and noisy otherwise.

Can't beat the location! Key Biscayne on the beach! Omar, front desk person was super friendly when we called from the road looking for a room. We got in late and Omar still welcomed us. He offered us some tips. The place is on the "vintage" side, but comfortable and clean. The property is super pretty-kinda feel like still in the 50's.
Will stay again.

Room Tip: Beach front are booked months ahead.

I rated this property "very good" as it was clean, quiet and exactly what I expected from the reviews. There aren't many hotel options on Key Biscayne, most people probably rent via VRBO or through a realtor and stay in one of the many condos on the island. This property was built in the 60's I would guess but it is clean, our room was large and there is a very nice large pool on site in the middle of the grounds. The beach is at the end of the property and there are two rooms ( if memory serves me right) that face the beach with small patios that face the ocean. If you are looking for modern and big, try the Ritz, if you are looking for a memory or the early days when south Florida was starting to become popular, try the Sands. The desk staff was friendly and courteous, thanks for a quick stay at the "Silver Sands".

This quaint, retro motel stands in its own little tropical haven surrounded by the overpowering condos on the beach. Walking distance to restaurants and other conveniences, this lovely and well-maintained property is right on the beach in Key Biscayne. Your choice on Key Biscayne is either the Ritz-Carlton for $700 plus per night or the Silver Sands for under $200 per night --- same beach! Take yourself out of a bourgeois mentality and enjoy the simplicity of this comfortable, clean little step-back-in-time. Over look the fact that everything is not perfect or high-end in this motel and that there are no swans swimming in the entrance…kick back and enjoy the lovely garden area, clean pool, and ocean-front amenities of this sweet spot in Key Biscayne…"beach it" like it's 1965!

Room Tip: Choose a court side room for a nicer view and poolside access.
