I visited the salon and spa for a manicure and massage. I checked in, and the ladies at the front were very nice and friendly. I waited about 5 minutes and was taken for the manicure. The woman was nice, but not the best technically - the polish ended up with bubbles and chipped within a day. I came back a little later for the massage and was taken back. The locker room is small but not terrible, very clean, plenty of products available for use. As a plus-sizer let me note, if you are moderately heavy, the robes will fit. If you are a very big person they will not, so bring your own. I sat down to sip some lemon water and relax by the garden while I waited - it was all very soothing. I had an 80 minute massage, which at $200 was overpriced, but I was splurging. Holy cow, the masseuse - started off great, but several times she was hurting me and I told her, and she first ignored me, then said to take a deep breath. I had a lot of kinks, and have never had one this long before, so I trusted her. When it was done, I did feel relaxed and good, but by the end of the day and the next I was completely sore - I felt bruised although there was no discoloration. So, if it hurts, be forceful in telling them to ease off!

It was a nice spa, but I would not go back - too expensive and I ended up hurting more than when I went in.

“What a Disaapointment!!”

Spa at Amelia Island Plantation

Took two friends for a change of pace get-away trip. I hadn't been to the Plantation in over 8 years. I was surprised that nothing had been updated. Compared to the Ponte Vedra Inn and Club, this place was almost dumpy. It is VERY expensive. The Spa prices are high and the spa is average. There weren't any specials.
Next time, if the Ritz Carlton is booked, I will head again to POnte Vedra, this time try out the new Mariott Spa, which I have been told is wonderful.
Save your money.

I was really looking forward to a relaxing massage so I went to the spa to look around and make an appointment. It looked very clean and very nice and I was pleased with the staff.
I had the Anakiri Aromatherapy massage but did not love it. The pressure was a little too much, after telling her that I just want a relaxing massage without any of the deep tissue massage. (actually, my arms hurt the next day from the massage) I liked the massage on my back but arms and feet were not happy.....
Also, there wasn't any "aroma" to it. I could smell a little of rosemary but that's about it. Later I learned that it's because I did not want my face rubbed with the oil.. Well, in my opinion, aromatherapy is not about rubbing your nose with a little bit of fragrance oil....... So please, don't pay an extra $25 just for a drop of oil right under you nose!!
The room was a little too cold for me, even with the heated massage bed and blankets.
Hope you'll enjoy it more than I did.......

“Spa Way Overpriced!”

Spa at Amelia Island Plantation

We took our 4 teenaged grandchildren to the Amelia Island Plantation for an after Christmas getaway. Our first time at the resort and everything was great and exceeded our expectations........except the Spa. I have been to other resort spas across the country and this one really surprised me as to the price. I wanted to treat my 2 granddaughters to a teen facial as they had never experienced one. I called the Spa in the morning and I was able to get two appointments together that evening at 6 pm. I told the lady handling my request that my granddaughters had never had facials before and that they had ethic skin. I was assured this would be no problem. When we arrived 15 minutes early, we were welcomed and asked to have a seat; they would be with us shortly. I was expecting some sort of questionaire to be filled out, as this is what I am accustomed to at other spas, detailing what our skins needs are and so forth. Nothing like this was offered. Two elderly ladies came out to fetch my g-daughters and in an hour I returned to two very happy young ladies - they loved how their faces felt. Well my face fell when I was presented with the bill! Each teen facial was $125, plus a $25 gratuity added on, since the Amelia Island Plantation is a "no-tipping" resort. Add on tax and it came to $303! I paid it without quibble as I did not want to make my g-daughters feel bad. My fault was not asking the price up front. Unless this resort adjusts the prices, I will not be taking up a facial or massage at this establishment again.

As always, it's such a pleasure when I visit Amelia Island Plantation. We visit there this time every year and I just love it! I love it so much until my family and I are looking into purchasing a home there. As always, the service is excellent and exceptional.I have been to many resorts and I can honestly say that Amelia Island Plantation stands alone! Each time I visit a resort, I look into pampering myself so I make sure I find a Spa! And of all the spas I've been to, The Spa at Amelia Island Plantation is phenomenal compared to any other! They stand on customer service where they are "committed to making people happy." I have been going there ever since the Spa was built in July of 2001 and it has been a pleasure on each encounter of the staff. They are always so pleasant and eager to assist in any area when needed, even when not needed, they are ALWAYS there to assist! They truly go above and beyond with exceeding guests expectations! I can not wait to visit next year! I may even be back before then!!!
