“Relaxing beautiful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

This is our second visit to this resort in six months. It's beautiful. We stayed on sandcastle this time on the ocean. Last visit we were at the tennis villas. Great resort. We use the gym and brought our dogs so the resort fee is well worth it. Look forward to coming back as soon as we can,

I am very picky when it comes to choosing a place to stay. My brother-in-law chose this one?
I couldnt have been happier. We had a 2-bedroom condo at the Tennis Villas. It was HUGE!
Very clean and the furnishings were of the highest quality. I would stay here again!

when I stayed in the Tennis Villas, I expected someone to come in one of the nights to bring new towels and change the sheets. This did not happen, and I was disappointed. Also, the hotel is located very far from Fernandina Beach, so if you need a ride to town you will pay $40 round trip.

However, these were my only complaints. Excellent and timely service, friendly reception staff, and attractive and clean rooms made the experience about as good as I have ever had. I stayed for 5 nights for 2 conferences last week. I would definitively consider the Omni at Amelia Island if I were to return to Amelia Island. Be aware the place is a four star hotel and as such is expensive, but this is one luxury worth having.

Room Tip: stay in the hotel-all the rooms have a window facing the ocean. The villas are pretty but do not hav...

I loved being off the beaten path and in such a private area. The downside to that was we were far from the shops, and the beach and other amenities. The area is lovely the service was excellent and the rooms were lovely and clean. I would go back

Room Tip: I would want to stay beach side next time. I didn't know when I booked how far away from the bea...

Thank you for the very positive rating for the Villas of Amelia Island Plantation! We are thrilled to hear you enjoyed your visit, but perhaps next time we can better accommodate your request to be closer to the beach and resort. The villas are spread out across 1,350 acres so we encourage guests to specify their preferences whether it may be oceanfront or resort view - and although we can not guarantee specific villas we will do our best to place guests where they will be most comfortable. Locations widely vary in distance from place to place so we also encourage guests to rent an island hopper (golf cart) as a fun way to get from point A to point B! We look forward to your return and thank you for your review!

Very pleased with our three bedroom resort view condo. Lot of room, nicely furnished. Beware of construction activity that makes getting to beach difficult. Not impressed with shops at Amelia Plantation....too expensive, limited food selections. Hotel restaurants don't meet my preferences, but were ins condo, so it wasn't an issue.

Staff was friendly and accommodating.

As far as Amelia, loved old downtown, Fernandino Beach. Good bars and weekend nightlife.
Only real negative is that it is little pricey.
Next year will stay longer for UGA-Florida weekend. Go Dawgs.

We are thrilled to hear you stayed with us over the infamous GA/FL weekend and enjoyed your visit! We hope you will stay with us next year when the Omni Amelia Island Plantation renovations are complete and you can enjoy an array of new dining options, the largest poolscape in Northeast Florida and overall a destination like no other in Florida or on Amelia Island! Thank you for your review!

Amelia Island Plantation offers both a large, standard hotel and the opportunity to rent condos in the various buildings that are part of the resort (the "Villas"). Some fo the buildign are newer than others,so this can affect the quality fo the room/facilities. I have never stayed in the main hotel, but have stayed in a few of the villas. While these may not be the most "luxurious" accommodations, the resort does offer alot of convenient amenities, such as a shuttle that comes when you call and will take you wherever you want in the resort, including the hotel, beaches, many restuarants, a spa and shopping area. Recently, we stayed in a 2 bedroom ocean view "villa" in the Sea Dunes complex. We found it very nice (although simple), and had a beautiful view of the beach that my eldery mother could enjoy from the balcony if she did not have the energy to walk down to the beach. The pools were also very nice. If you want 5 star luxury, then you may prefer the Ritz Carlton, but for a nice family place right on the beach with plenty to do inside and outside the resort, I recommend this place. Two notes - for "ocean view," make sure to request a room on a floor high enough to see over the dunes, and not all complexes have elevators, so if you can't handle stairs, be sure to tell them. The staff are great about working with special requests. They are doign major renovations at the main hotel, but this shoudl be complete by Spring.

Room Tip: For ocean view, be sure to ask for a room on upper floors. In general, the building further down the...

Thank you for your review! Being a repeat guest you are able to provide some very worthwhile advice and tips for our future guests! As you mentioned, the villas are spread out across 1,350 acres and no one villa is like another. They are all privately owned and individually decorated. We'd also like to note that as of this past month, only guests that book through the Villas of Amelia Island Plantation website or reservation system will be granted access to the resort amenities, including the largest poolscape in Northeast Florida, all dining venues, health & fitness center, Amelia's Wheels, golf and tennis park.

We encourage our guests while making reservations to ask questions and make sure any special requests are noted in system. All requests may not be guaranteed due to availability but our staff will do whatever they can to make sure you have an enjoyable and "relaxing" visit.

We look forward to hosting you again!

The place is really big so you need to take a shuttle/golf cart to the main hotel to visit a restaurant, indeed....Some of the villas are set pretty far away from the main resort. Service is good and staff members are helpful. The beach is awesome for beach-goers, but not in /very humid/ July-September..If you want to feel the charm of the Island look around in downtown Fernandina Beach at the northern tip of the Island. You'll find lots of amenities in the resort !

Room Tip: Choose one unit int the ShipWatch or Beachwalker buildings...gorgeous views !

Thank you for reviewing your stay at the Villas of Amelia Island Plantation. We are happy to hear you enjoyed our vast location and myriad of amenities. We are proud to offer an array of activities for all ages, as well as dining venues to appease any appetite. We often find our guests do not need to leave our location, but we certainly encourage them to take a trip downtown to the charming historic Fernandina Beach where you can enjoy the beautiful views from the marina, shop along centre street or dine in one of the many top rated restaurants.

We hope you visit us in 2013 when our renovation is complete! You may keep track of the progress on our website or social media channels.
