“Relaxing beautiful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

This is our second visit to this resort in six months. It's beautiful. We stayed on sandcastle this time on the ocean. Last visit we were at the tennis villas. Great resort. We use the gym and brought our dogs so the resort fee is well worth it. Look forward to coming back as soon as we can,

“WOW!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

I am very picky when it comes to choosing a place to stay. My brother-in-law chose this one?
I couldnt have been happier. We had a 2-bedroom condo at the Tennis Villas. It was HUGE!
Very clean and the furnishings were of the highest quality. I would stay here again!

“if you can splurge a little, this place is worth the stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

when I stayed in the Tennis Villas, I expected someone to come in one of the nights to bring new towels and change the sheets. This did not happen, and I was disappointed. Also, the hotel is located very far from Fernandina Beach, so if you need a ride to town you will pay $40 round trip.

However, these were my only complaints. Excellent and timely service, friendly reception staff, and attractive and clean rooms made the experience about as good as I have ever had. I stayed for 5 nights for 2 conferences last week. I would definitively consider the Omni at Amelia Island if I were to return to Amelia Island. Be aware the place is a four star hotel and as such is expensive, but this is one luxury worth having.

Room Tip: stay in the hotel-all the rooms have a window facing the ocean. The villas are pretty but do not hav...

“Nice and quiet, but very, very big”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

I loved being off the beaten path and in such a private area. The downside to that was we were far from the shops, and the beach and other amenities. The area is lovely the service was excellent and the rooms were lovely and clean. I would go back

Room Tip: I would want to stay beach side next time. I didn't know when I booked how far away from the bea...

Thank you for the very positive rating for the Villas of Amelia Island Plantation! We are thrilled to hear you enjoyed your visit, but perhaps next time we can better accommodate your request to be closer to the beach and resort. The villas are spread out across 1,350 acres so we encourage guests to specify their preferences whether it may be oceanfront or resort view - and although we can not guarantee specific villas we will do our best to place guests where they will be most comfortable. Locations widely vary in distance from place to place so we also encourage guests to rent an island hopper (golf cart) as a fun way to get from point A to point B! We look forward to your return and thank you for your review!

“Amelia perfect for Georgia-Florida weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

Very pleased with our three bedroom resort view condo. Lot of room, nicely furnished. Beware of construction activity that makes getting to beach difficult. Not impressed with shops at Amelia Plantation....too expensive, limited food selections. Hotel restaurants don't meet my preferences, but were ins condo, so it wasn't an issue.

Staff was friendly and accommodating.

As far as Amelia, loved old downtown, Fernandino Beach. Good bars and weekend nightlife.
Only real negative is that it is little pricey.
Next year will stay longer for UGA-Florida weekend. Go Dawgs.

We are thrilled to hear you stayed with us over the infamous GA/FL weekend and enjoyed your visit! We hope you will stay with us next year when the Omni Amelia Island Plantation renovations are complete and you can enjoy an array of new dining options, the largest poolscape in Northeast Florida and overall a destination like no other in Florida or on Amelia Island! Thank you for your review!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Villas of Amelia Island Plantation sprawl across 1,350 beautiful and isolated acres, along Florida's north eastern coastline, just across the St. Marys River in Georgia and adjacent to the historic city of Fernandina. The Villas overlook the azure blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Intracoastal Waterway on the west. Though private, secluded and protected by a gated entry, the location is very convenient with a short 45 minute drive from downtown Jacksonville, and 29 miles from Jacksonville International Airport, Private and corporate aircraft charters can fly directly to Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport, four miles north of the plantation. Each villa is unique and different. Units come in varying sizes and locations, including ocean view, resort view and tennis view single guest rooms. As well as one, two and three bedroom units, ideal for larger parties, and feature fully equipped kitchens, dining areas, spacious living rooms, multiple baths and private bedrooms. Most complexes have at least one pool. Be sure to confirm the villa type, location and amenities available when booking. The villa accommodations are independently owned, but are located within proximity to the Omni Amelia Island Plantation resort. Just minutes from the Amelia Island Plantation lies Fernandina Beach, which is a rare combination of historical wonders and small-town charm. Once a haven for pirates and rum-runners, the picturesque harbor is now one of the most productive shrimping and fishing centers in the South. Along cobblestone walks is an eclectic assortment of galleries, antique shops and quaint eateries worthy of exploration. Throughout your stay, we're confident that you will enjoy all the amenities the plantation has to offer - including the bountiful nature of Florida’s Premier Island.**Please note: Beginning November 2011 through spring 2013 the Omni Amelia Island Plantation will be undergoing a major re-imagination project. During that time the hotel pool and beach club will be closed. All villa pools will be open for villa guests and owners. Beach activities, games and food & beverage will be available on the beach for all resort guests. ... more   less
