“Christmas with Fairbanks was spendid!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2010

My wife and I have visited the Fairbanks home with Bill and Teresa at least six times, there are so many beautiful rooms we stay in a different one each time. This past visit we spend the Christmas Holiday with them and as always they exceeded our expectations, from the beautifully decorated room, their impeccable service and attention, once you step foot inside their home you'll feel complete relaxation. If you are looking for peace and quiet, look no further, this beautiful historic district provides nothing less and will not dissapoint.

The Fairbanks House was a wonderful experience. Teresa and Bill are wonderful hosts. The mansion is stunning and is full of history. It is conveniently located to all the shops, restaurants, and sites to see that you could ask for. We will surely come back and are already planning for a return trip.

We had a great vacation on Amelia Island. The guys were looking for outdoor activities and found plenty available. The girls wanted the spa thing. Everyone got what they wanted thanks to one of the Inn’s owner, Theresa. We had great communication by phone and email before we arrived at Fairbanks House in Fernandina. Theresa’s knowledge of the area helped us make our plans but she made all of the arrangements for our day excursions. We never would‘ve been able to coordinate it all on our own. Appreciated the free Wi-Fi and off-street parking. Homework’s done for you here.

I woke up this morning in my own bed and shed a tiny tear.

After being spoiled the previous three days by the innkeepers at Fairbanks House in Fernandina Beach, Florida, it is difficult to return to the real world.

The Inn itself was worth the departure. Fairbanks House is a magnificent Victorian mansion. If you appreciate period architecture this is the place for you, the foyer and stairwell of the house alone took my breath away. Every evening during the social hour, we continued to ogle the details of the beautiful public rooms while the innkeepers served up hors d’oeurves and drinks to all us guests. The living room and dining room with arched openings framed by massive fluted columns, enormous pocket doors, fireplaces surrounded by original Minton tiles – Shakespearean and Aesop’s fables themed – made us feel as though we had stepped back in time. So, when the transportation that arrived at the front of the house to take us to dinner turned out to be a white carriage, pulled with ease by the largest Percheron horse I have ever seen, we knew this was going to be a trip we would not forget.

Everything about our stay was delightful, from the dreamy four-poster bed in our room, to our lazy mornings enjoying the Inn’s breakfasts al fresco on the side porch, to the personality of the town, Fernandina. The Inn is two blocks from Centre Street where we strolled to each day for shopping and dining. This B&B’s owners bent over backwards to make our stay special. We will definitely be back!

I just spent 5 nights at Fairbanks House in Fernandina Beach for the Thanksgiving holiday. The inn was historic and beautifully restored. The room was comfortable. The service was superb. The breakfasts were good and the evening happy hour with wine and snacks was delish. My package included dinner at two very good restaurants. And a boat ride where we saw dolphin, birds and the wild horses of Cumberland Island. The innkeepers were very friendly and knowledgeable about their town.

When we first arrived, we were surprised at the location of the Fairbanks House. The house looks exactly like it's photograph but it's proximity to a main, industrial road with rundown establishments and abandoned buildings put us off initially. Not at all what we expected from a downtown neighborhood that is touted as a charming, Victorian seaside town. The neighborhood this B and B is located in is far from that and not very close to shops and restaurants unless you want to walk passed gas stations, dilapidated houses with unkempt lawns, many looked condemned, and not a safe feeling to be walking around at night.
We would not stay here again, especially at the high prices the owners charge for their rooms, not a value at all in our opinion. Sleep quality poor, food below average, overall not something we would recommend to anyone.Theresa runs hot and cold, the food was not at all impressive, the room was nice but not worth the price of admission.
We loved Amelia Island and would stay at the Ritz Carlton if we were to return. We priced a oceanfront room at the Ritz for $199..not sure why this inn thinks their rooms are worth over $250. This place does not offer AAA or AARP discounts by the way, something we couldn't understand and Theresa had no interest in giving us any discount at all. Her tone was rude when we asked. Oh well, we loved Amelia Island just not the Fairbanks house.

A group of seven women off to have fun and relaxation and that is just what we had at the Fairbanks House! Theresa, the owner and hostess, was phenomenal. Friendly, laugh out loud funny, and so accomadating. Breakfasts were delicious. Cocktail hour was a great time to mingle with other guests. Rooms adorable and comfortable. So convenient to walk around town. A perfect experience.
