This is the second Bubba Gump visited, this one is in my home town. The location here is fabulous with waterfront dining overlooking a busy waterway and an historic lighthouse. The decor is also above average and fun. The wait staff and management are friendly and above average to excellent!
So, why does Bubba Gump not get a better review from me as well as other diners? It's the food. It's just not that good for the prices charged. Some dishes may be freshly prepared, but it is obvious that most are not. There were four of us, and we shared Jambalaya, shrimp creole, burgers, appetizers and deserts. The HIGHLIGHT of the food was the onion rings! They were great, but everything else was so-so and mostly bland. And that is sad, because for a bill of right around $50 per couple including a soft drink and dessert, the food should be above average and at least match the rest of the dining experience.
I'm giving them "Average" because the wait staff make up somewhat for the food, but only once. For now, this restaurant is meant for a fun night out if you've never been - but next time you'll choose someplace with better food - and there's plenty out there.
