“Neat little animal sanctuary”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

This organization rehabilitates injured wild life. Unfortunately sometimes the animals cannot be released back into the wild for various reasons so Busch has developed a home for them and a place for us to visit. Its a great family experience and a great cause! Please make a donation if you visit. It helps the animals!

“A Hidden Gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

David Hitzig and his staff do an awesome job of rescuing wildlife in Florida, rehabilitating them and sometimes even releasing them. There is an education area with a theater for being hands on with some of the animals..............and a picnic area to spend the afternoon at. The bears have a new enclosure and soon the panthers will have too! Amy and Brenda are so awesome with the animals and the educational part!

They are worth the visit and also to support with your donations of which they really need!

“Awesome visit, and it's free!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

Came here a couple weeks ago and really enjoyed ourselves. They did a good job of recreating a swamp environment and the selection of animals was surprisingly large for such a small attraction. They had several varieties of birds of prey, including a couple of bald eagles that you can get very close to. They also had a florida panther, tons of tortoises and turtles, several varieties of parrot/macaw, several alligators and crocodiles, and a bunch of others. Awesome to see all of these animals up close and also learn about them from the information posted by each of the pens. They are actively working on the nature trail so I assume it will have some more stuff in the near future, right now all it has are a couple of bears. There is also an animal hospital but you aren't allowed in there unfortunately. The only other downside is the parking, as the public parking isn't clearly marked and on busy days there definitely isn't enough of it. Also, make sure you bring some mosquito repellent. All in all this is a good place to spend a few hours and you definitely can't beat the price: free!

“Extraordinary experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

This gem of a wildlife park has almost all the native wildlife of FL displayed in beautifully designed areas. Bald eagles are in a long wooden building with perches from which they and other large birds can fly and be seen by visitors. The brids and all the animals appear well despite the mission to rescue injured or impaired animals. The 3 Florida panthers have pens that protect visitors but seem at ease as they bounce from area to area. The bears were active when we last visited. Contributions to support the preserve are needed and we gave willingly. Even the plants are intersting since placcards describe many of the special features found in FL. Another very worthwhile activity for both residents and visitors

“A definite must see!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012 via mobile

The place is not too big or too small. You can get through quickly in an hour or stroll through in 2+ hours. There are plenty of picnic tables if you want to take a break but its bring your own. Wear walking shoes since all the trails are gravel-like. Enjoy!!
