We visited this restaurant with children after finding out that the diner across the street was closed in the evenings. We didn't want fast food again, so we thought we would try El Potro. It was convenient to our hotel. It was pretty disappointing in service and food, as well as cleanliness.
The waiter seated us quickly, and the place was nearly empty at about 4:30 pm for a late lunch/early dinner. Then the waiter disappeared, and we had trouble finding anyone to take our order. Once our order was taken, we commented that this restaurant reminded us of "Kitchen Nightmares" on TV. It was dark, everything felt sticky and looked dirty. The high chair for the 2 year old looked as if it never had been cleaned.
The food arrived, and the waiter seemed to be in a hurry to leave the table. We were missing one of the dishes we ordered, but gave up trying to find the waiter. The food was cooked poorly. It looked as if the fajitas were warmed over with perhaps some vegetables added, and burnt to the hot plate. We never got a drink refill either. My wife and the kid left to go outside while I waited for the check since the waiter still was nowhere to be found. I was tempted just to leave without paying - I'm not sure they would have noticed.
It wasn't particularly expensive, but still was a very poor value. I would not go back or recommend it.
